Mx222 just failed.
Soon after replacing Wide Black cart.
I used a refilled cart and I THINK it then failed.
I replaced refilled cart with OEM wide BLK cart and it worked a bit then failed again.
Is there a special way I can get useful error codes?
All it says now is turn off disconnect go to service manual...
I'v removed the straight through paper rollers assembly from back tried it without that & re[placed that but no go.
Doesn't seem to be paper jam because:
It seems to work with B&W using copying document feature
but when I select COLOR it fails and gives the non-useful "error message"
All it says now is turn off remove power contact service or such text.

I wish I had bought one of those discontinued Canon PRO printers a couple of months back-wasn't fast enough.

Are there any flashing lights? If so, count the number for each color and note the pattern of repeating flashes and then post your findings.

Does you printer have two different paper feed sources? Are both the cassette and the rear feed paths non-working?
You said it works for B&W COPY but not COLOR. Are you able to print other than making a COPY?

The carts are all lighted not flashing.. Only flashing light is orange triangle on far right of front panel.

I am not sure what you meant by this suggestion.
Did this apply to flashing of cartridges. They were not flashing. Solid light.
Can you explain it a bit more please.

Yes, the printer has 2 different sources for paper feed.
I haven't tried the 4 x6 tray. Good idea.I'll see if that makes a difference.
I do not remember if I tried B&W printing from PC yet. I'll do that.

Mystery not solved BUT PRINTER IS FIXED!
Today I removed all the old previously refilled carts from my MX922. They were a mix of carts from Precision Colors, Amazon, Refilled OEM carts etc.
I put in a new set of carts. They were empty carts from Precision Colors with their ink too.
I hooked up the MX922 to a very OLD DELL Elitebook. The MX922 WORKED 100% as far as I tested it.
So the mystery was not solved BUT the Printer is FIXED.

THANKS FOR FOLK'S REPLIES

I never had issues mixing cartridges from different origin.
Chances are it is driver related.

You change 5 parameters at the time, how would you (and all of us) ever know how and why ?
