Is there a way to print with an epson printer when it wants a new cartridge?

I'm guessing this pretty common with them, at least the xp series I've got a couple in front of me. As soon as one needs replacing it ceases to work until it gets a working cartridge.

Some I think Workforce models support that, you get a pop up window asking the user how he wants to continue to print - B/W or mixing black from the CMY inks depending which cartridge is empty.
