Hi All,

I've setup a new application which will allow you to QUICKLY and EASILY upload and post images to be used ONLY in this forum.

To use this feature you have to be signed up as a member of the Nifty-Stuff Inkjet Forum.

Here is how you upload and post an image:

1) Click on the link in the main menu at the top of any page that says Upload and upload your image.
2) A thumbnail of your image is automatically created along with the code needed to post in the forum.
3) Once you've uploaded the image, copy the code and paste it into your post.

Happy Uploading!

NOTE: I'm making this available to all members of the forum. If it is abused (i.e. only upload images for use in this forum) then I'll be forced to either limit access or remove it completely.

Some people have inquired about posting large files, or different file types. We need to limit the size on the www.nifty-stuff.com/img program because there is the chance that someone on the net may find it and start uploading tons of huge files and then post them on their site for download and eat up all my bandwidth (this has happened to me a few times before).

If someone has a huge file, or different file type, they can email it to me and I can temporarily put it in a folder on nifty-stuff.com. Send it to rtl@nifty-stuff.com with a description of what it is for and how long you need it posted.

Non image files can be emailed to me for review and posting. Otherwise you can use a free service like http://www.cjb.net/ and upload stuff there.

A member of the forum just sent me a great question:

"I recently used your niffty (pun intended) upload link to post some images at my post. and was wondering why some posts that I have seen display full sized images that are not hot-linked (click-able to link to full sized photo), whereas the ones I posted all came out as thumbnails which were click-able to the full sized photos. Nothing crucial.... just curious, since this was the first time I posted images.

Thanks for creating and maintaining this great forum. I really appreciate the work you have done to make it happen.
It is a great example of how people-to-people collaboration can help everyone."

Well, that's a great question! The thumbnail is automatically generated as is the code to use the thum and link to image. Example, here is an image with thumb code:

Code:
[url=http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/uploads/10_alana-chick-kiss-2.jpg][img]http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/uploads/thumbs/10_alana-chick-kiss-2.jpg[/img][/url]
If you want to show the image itself, strip out the main image: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/uploads/10_alana-chick-kiss-2.jpg and wrap it with the image tags:

Code:
[img]http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/uploads/10_alana-chick-kiss-2.jpg[/img]
I hope that helps!

ALSO: I added the ability to grab the link to the URL directly from your listing of images page. No need to strip out the image as there is now a quick link to the image directly. You can see it here (if you've uploaded an image) : http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/uploadimg_view.php?view=gallery

I plan on keeping images hosted forever. The images are suppose to be used primarily (exclusively) on this forum and should not have any questionable content. As long as images fit within those guidelines they should remain hosted forever.
