J.F.Edwards here in the damp NW USA
I was/am a volunteer & sometimes contract photographer for the National Park Service,
in addition to an avid closeup & macro fan.

Over the years since 2003, including car shows, I have accumulated many thousands of pics.
I do most printing (few pics) on my old HP Deskjet 3745, but recently...
I thought I would restart my Epson Stylus Photo R800 for the photos,
since I see the price of CIS systems has come down considerably since I realized I could not afford the $110./set to keep it running in .... ahem.... about 2004 !

My questions to the group are
How do I restart this now very dry R800 ?
Should I go with refillable cartridges, or long tubing systems ?
Is there really a difference between pigment & dye inks ?
And, Is it possible to get product recommendations here ?

Took a deep breath, ordered the $50. cisinks.com dye kit with refillable carts.
Turned the R800 on, got 3 dry carts, downloaded Win 10 (64-bit) driver & easyphotoprint utility.
Found my cable in the closet.
Everything seems to work so far, except no prints, obviously.
