Hello, I just ordered the Canon Pixma Pro 100 and have been following your post on refilling the cartridges' I've found this group to be very helpful. I hope to be able to be of help in the future.
A little about me: I'm a retired professional photographer and have owned photographic businesses for over 45 years. I now teach part-time at a college (photography and Photoshop.) I did own a business remanufacturing toner cartridges for laser printers and also have a degree in computer science.
I now do photography mainly for fun and do video for a couple theater groups.

I want to Thank You for all the great information I've learned about the Pro 100 just spending a few hours at this site, and look forward to leaning a lot more. I will be telling my students all about this site since many of them print their own photos.

Welcome to the forum, professor! I look forward to reading your posts.

If you will be refilling your Pro-100 cartridges then please consider not using the OEM Canon Yellow cartridge that came with your printer at all and swap the chip onto a non-CLI-42 cartridge and use only aftermarket Yellow ink from the beginning to prevent "Yellow Gello" that has created problems for print heads with this model. You can read more about this issue at Precision Colors which also is a great place to purchase your refilling needs if you live in North America. (Octoinkjet offers similar refilling kit if you live in Europe)

While the color output will not be optimized with the mismatch of Canon OEM and Yellow Precision Color's Image Specialist ink, Precision Colors has a number of custom IIC printer profiles available once you begin to use their ink in all the cartridges. And you will have bypassed the dreaded "Yellow Gello" beast.

Extremely good advice to start you off with, but please remember it’s all up hill for a while till you get the hang of your new printer. :confused:
Don’t forget to holler for help when you get stuck..:hide

Thank you for the info. Will take your advice. By the way I'm not a professor, but just a person that teaches subjects that were learned by many hard years of experience.

@The Hat...

The school of hard knocks is oftentimes the best training there is. Many in this forum have postgraduate degrees in printers from that school. A couple have attained emeritus status. Keep at it, uncle, and you too may ascend to the clouds to reside with Zeus. :old Heck, you almost qualify just on age. :gig :hide
