I've recently bought this and find that the draft print out default setting produces print a bit too light for my wife's eyes.
she uses draft a lot!

we used to have a canon on which the draft printing was a bit darker than the epson's

Is there a way to reconfigure the darkness or lightness of draft

thanks

I don't have an Epson at the moment, but if you go into your printer properties, under "settings" or preferences, most of the earlier Epsons have an "Advanced" button. Try increasing the intensity or "vividness" there..try at 10%, 20%, etc until you have it the way you like it.

Also, there is an excellent program called "Inksaver 2.0", which will allow you to set the exact amount of colouration and intensity you desire..and can save you a ton of money over time.

30-day trial here..... http://www.inksaver.com/

Please post your results and good luck!!

That's very helpful & thankyou for the link
I'll give both a go tonight.

What is the best way of ink replacement with epsons in the longterm
originals / compatibles / or manually refill the cartridges ?

I'm in the uk.

If you're printing a LOT then think about CIS's as a possible option but like I said, you'd need to be printing a LOT to make it worth the learning curve and expense..

Might try this programme.I installed it in another PC to test.
I won't use it on photo though, but it looks fine with text and colour on plain paper.

Mixed text and images settings down to 25% to 40%
Text 40% to 50%
Spreadsheet 40% to 50%
The above are perfectly acceptible settings for me.
Don't know about the actual savings, unless someone wants to buy it for me.

Sorry, I never noticed the post by Manuchau, it's the same programme.

Thanks for the help

Unfortunately Inksaver doesn't come as a demo for win98se which is the pc the printer is hooked up to, also they don't list my printer model on the win98 supported list.

I've been toyimg with the epson's advanced settings Manuchau but they don't seem to make any difference to text printing on draft.

gamma options:
1.5
1.8 [default]
2.2

Color mode option:
charts & graphs
vivid [default]
adobe rgb

then sliders for:
brighness contrast saturation etc

ps i can't seem to find a consensus on refill cartridges
Whilst many say stick with originals, others say they get on fine with
cheaper alternatives.
The printer will mainly be used for text with occassional colour printing.
