Aldi photo paper in Belgium

Yes I know this. I just saw it in the Aldi brochure. It is really great photo paper. I use the photo card size for give away pictures. Most say the pictures are way sharper and brighter compared to the commercial photo labs....Thanks to good refill ink and good profiles .

I think the paper is Sihl, as I think the waterfront photo on the package is copyrighted by Sihl. See this post and following posts. Also see this post.

the photo papers for sale at Aldi Nord in Germany are directly marked on the front with ' Sihl Inkjet' 280 gr, Aldi Nord offers alternatively a very similar paper from Netbit, 300gr, the photo papers offered at Aldi Sued are reported to be inferior to the Sihl or Netbit material. So you need to check the photo paper at Aldi Belgium for its manufacturer/distributor on the backside. The photo papers sold by Lidl, United Office, are as well marked with 'manufactured by Sihl'. All these papers are only offered seasonally several times a year.

Very good observation, PeterBJ, it is Sihl for sure !

As far as I know Aldi Belgium is Aldi Süd, but I have stock of 240g in the plastic bag with the waterfront picture and Sihl label (made by Sihl GmbH Düren) with dutch/french text for the Belgian market.

That's good stuff as well, it has a more neutral white than the Aldi/Sihl paper which has a little bit more yellow cast

I thought that the Netbit paper was made by Sihl. But this topic has been much discussed both on this forum and the druckerchannel.de forum. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

the Netbit Paper ist clearly not from Sihl, for technical and business reasons. The Aldi/Shil paper is clearly marked as 'Sihl', why should they do more business via a distributor and give up some profit?. There ist most likely another paper company which does not show their brand name and hides this low price business behind a distributor, whoever, I don't know, a company which tries to maintain their name as a premium (price) paper supplier. The Sihl paper is 280 gr, you can get it as well via their sihl-direct internet store - 'quick dry' 280 gr.
The Netbit paper is marked as 300 gr, and in direct comparision to the Sihl paper it is a little bit more neutral white, the Sihl paper has a slight yellowish cast. It may be, that the Netbit paper uses more optical brighteners. And when it comes to ink absorption, the Netbit paper takes a little bit more ink than the Sihl paper. You will find small ink puddles on the Sihl paper, when you print with the highest driver settings - ultra glossy RPM or extra fine, the Netbit paper does not show that. The color spaces are almost identical of those 2 papers, which is easy to see with an ICC profile viewer when I do profiles. So both the Sihl and the Netbit papers are a very good deal for their price.

You’ve now all got me very interested in this Photo paper from Netbit, all I got to do is to find a store close to me and wait on the sales offer..
