Worse printer I ever owned.
Couple of months ago ended up doing multiple 'ink flushes' to get decent colour and b/w; today cannot get any black (pg bk 20), at all.
Tried multiple cleanings/deep cleanings/flushes to no avail.
Anyone know what's next?
On a Canon ip 4300, there is a fine black line visible on the yellow nozzle check - it doesn't show on a scan, so I won't post it.
I replaced the photo carts then the pigment cart from a known good ip 4500 to no avail.
If I select either a clean of the colour carts or the pigment cart, the...
Since my ip6000 died I'm left with these photo inks that are no longer required.
Now that I'm using an ip4300, what's the colour difference between photo and non-photo inks.
If I put the photo cyan/magenta ink in the regular cyan/magenta carts will it all end in tears?
Is it OK to put photo...
Went to install IE8 and it lets me know that Easy-WebPrint won't work.
The Canon site says the same - and nothing is offered to make it work.
Anyone know about the problem and a workaround?
I can't find anything on the forum using the search feature.
I live in Ontario and the local Staples is offering the ip-4500 (includes CD tray printing and five carts) for $69.
The Best Buy (US) website is offering the ip-4500 (no CD tray and one PG-5 plus only one CLI-8 cart) for $123.
Apart from the world being turned upside down inasmuch as a Canadian...
Staples in Canada are selling the IP3500 for $49.94 on special
It includes the three cli-8 carts and the pg5.
You can also by the ink separately.
The three colour combo goes for $58.99 (you get a bonus of some photo paper included).
The pigment black cart, can be had for a mere $20.
Total for...
A while back my ip5000 quit printing.I installed a new printhead - but it didn't help.
Since then the head has been sitting in the printer (carts installed).
I'm going to dump the printer - but have held back the head, at the moment it's sitting in a shallow tub in some water.
Anyone who cares...
Used mainly for text.
The pic shows the nozzle check after an alignment.
There is a leading trail of colour in the magenta.
I switched the C and M carts, the problem stayed in the same position.
The head has been cleaned, washed, soaked (in my tears) and had compressed air to dry.
Alignment...
Picked up a Deskjet HP932c workhorse in Value Village for $5.99 plus tax.
It had a full 45 black cart and an empty 78 colour.
I put some universal ink in the colour cart and literally breathed new life into it until the yellow appeared. Left it to soak all night in some Windex and then did a...
The printer cost zero but it came with four oem carts (two filled), so I can't complain.
It looks to me like the head is shot, but I'm open to suggestions.
This is the nozzle check after two cleanups with warm water and compressed air.
An alignment (as well as could be expected) were...
I've been using 'freezer wrap' run through an HP 940c to make banner prints.
The paper has a shiny side and a nice 'parchmenty' finish on top which accepts the ink without problems, the only thing is that it's a pain to cut the paper to letter width.
Anyone know of a substitute (apart from the...

I made two batch files that I find useful.
The first file prints the XP Printer Test Page (not the nozzle check).
It's handy for troubleshooting printer problems from the desktop.
The second file may be more useful as it empties out...

I am going to fill some virgin Hobbicolor carts with their new CLI-8 inks to try in my IP5000 and I wanted to clear up a couple of queries about the refill technique that mikling has posted.
Does the 1cc of ink at "A" come from the...
The new Canon IP4300 sold in Canada has the 'print to CD' feature.
It's advertised at the Canon Canada site, but I don't see it at the US site.
Staples (in Canada) are offering them for $149 (Can).

I used this prog. in the past to print DVD case covers.
I got the new version and noticed that it now supports disk printing on the Canon B/C tray.

Apart from possible spillage and the resultant tears, is there any technical reason why the IP series carts cannot be refilled without removing them from the printer?
Mine are the screw-and-washer variety.
With the rumoured demise of the last Canon printer with non chipped tanks approaching, any interested Canadian might note this:

There were five available last night.
I was looking at the thread where the cleaning of the waste ink tank was covered.
It strikes me as strange that the ink (90% water?) simply doesn't evaporate instead of accumulating in this pad.
And how much of a problem does this pose for the average user over the printers life...

I want to start a thread on a subject that has been touched on before in this forum.
Assume that it is a Canon with non-chipped tanks.
If a particular colour is giving problems and substituting...
