    What are these manuals?

In the service manuals for iP4800 and MG5100 I noticed the mentioning of two printhead manuals, see this: I wonder what is the purpose of these manuals? It looks like it is about if a printhead should be replaced on the warranty, Notice questions as: Are the cartridges OEM or not? And are...

    Can anybody identify this printer?

I read an article in a Danish magazine, translation to English here. Notice the title photo. Can anybody identify the printer, or doesn't it exist? Is the image a work of art? Googling "ZX-6000" finds shoes, a lawn mower, a server, a work station or a wireless headphone but no printers. A...

    Microsoft App Store @#$%&!

Last year i upgraded 4 computers from Windows 7 and 8.1 to Windows 10. Two desktops got 64 bit OS and two laptops got 32 bit OS. I like the free Image handling program Irfan View very much. It can handle a lot of file formats and crop and adjust images and add arrows and text to the images and...

    Photo paper at Lidl DK

I thought that Aldi and Lidl had stopped selling photo paper, but I just noticed that Lidl DK from Thursday 16th of January offers 50 A4 sheets of a 280 gsm photo paper which I think is made by Sihl. The price is DKK 45 = € 6.

    Canon error codes

I found a good article on druckerchannel.de about Canon error codes, both LED flashes and 3 and 4 digit error codes. The Google translation to English of the tables is also good this time :)

    Which SSD to buy?

I have a desktop computer I have used since August 2013. The OS was originally Windows 8 64 bit, later upgraded for free to Windows 8.1 64 bit. Now after almost 6 years of use without reformatting the computer is in the need of a reformatting and clean install of the OS. I would like to upgrade...

Lidl DK offers 50 sheets of United Office A4 280 gsm glossy photo paper from Sunday 20 of January. The price is DKK 45 or € 6. I think the paper is the usual Sihl paper. The paper might soon be available in Lidl in other countries too.

Bad print head ? - No, dirty timing strip

A month ago I salvaged a Canon MG5350. I started it in service mode to get its usage history info and see when it was last used. This is the 1st EEPROM print, notice missing PGBK nozzles and vertical margins are wavy. This suggests a clogged print head and a dirty timing strip. Click to enlarge...

WicReset now supports Canon G models

I saw on druckerchannel.de Canon forum that WicReset now can reset the absorber counters on Canon G model printers. See the post by Ede-Lingen. I didn't believe this as WicReset is known as an Epson reset program, but see the WicReset website. The WicReset only works with Canon G model...

Back to push button codes for absorber reset?

When looking for an answer to Error 6000 for Canon printers I stumbled upon this reset procedure for a Canon G model bottled ink printer on Youtube: It looks like the old push button way of doing service mode operations is back, I wonder if the video is true. Some comments on Youtube suggest...

    Missing Email notifications

I normally get an Email notification when somebody starts a conversation with me or posts a reply in a conversation. I got an Email when I got a conversation on Jan 26, but no Email for conversations started on May 15 and May 25. I miss the Email notification but luckily the little red alert...

    Photo paper at Lidl DK

From Thursday 11th of January Lidl DK offers a United Office photo paper. The ad doesn't say Sihl but the paper is 280 gsm and there is what looks to be a German flag on the package, so I guess the paper is Sihl. The price is DKK 49.95 or € 6.71 for 50 A4 sheets. It is a bit more expensive than...

    Copier function without a scanner

This sounds impossible, but a new entry level Canon printer offers just that. The Canon Pixma TS305 has a lid with a grid pattern to aid in aligning the document when photographing it with a camera phone. The photo is then transferred to the printer via WiFi.

Transferring newer paper thin Canon chips.

In this post @mikling warns that the yellow ink used in CLI-x51 Y/CLIx71 Y cartridges has the same gelling problem as the CLI-42 Y ink if mixed with aftermarket inks or even plain water. So if you want to refill one of the CLI-x51 Y/CLIx71 Y cartridges you will need to flush it very carefully...

    3D printed house in Copenhagen

I just noticed in the free and ad sponsored newspaper "Metroxpress" that the construction of a 3D printed house has begun in Copenhagen. It is claimed to be the first of its kind in Europe. Here is the clip from the newspaper: Here is a translation of the headline and the text: Nordhavn =...

    New Canon Pixma TS series

I noticed on druckerchannel.de that Canon introduces a new series of the Pixma TS printers. A translation is here. I noticed that a new series of ink cartridges is introduced, PGI-580/CLI-581. The top models of this printer series no longer use grey ink, instead a new colour photo blue is...

Fading test of some Canon OEM and Image Specialists inks

Using the same bug zapper lamp I have used for earlier fading tests I have now started a fading test of Canon OEM CIS ink in bottles for the G-series of printers with built-in CIS. The inks are tested in a Canon MG5550 using PGI-550/CLI-551 cartridges. For dye black I use a Canon OEM CL551 BK...

A good scan of a Canon nozzle check using a CIS scanner

In a couple of posts, here and here, I have claimed that the CIS scanner in a newer Canon printer like the MG5150 is no good for scanning Canon nozzle checks. This is only true if you use default scanner settings. With the proper settings the scans are as good as scans from a CCD scanner like...
