I see, without a prism the remaining ink quantity has to be calculated from full, not from when the ink chamber is empty.
But why should it be less accurate with a sponge than with a bag ? The chip counts ink spray instructions.
Based on the empty OEM carts I got the PRO-10 and PRO-9500 chips...
I had exactly the same phenomenon (on the same place) on my PRO-10 with 3th party grey.
It went away by changing to OEM ink (using the same profile).
What you show here with OEM ink makes me think I did something wrong too.
Even a 300g photo paper is translucent, white sheets underneath are...
Yellow nozzles of the new printer (5150) are slowly enhancing (a 600dpi scan is needed to see the details).
Not perfect yet but at the moment octoink.co.uk (@websnail ) LXP72Y is the "good" ink removing the "bad".
I am not amused starting this almost new printer with a damaged printhead.
I never had any conservation issues with pigment ink.
Admit I could have rinsed the OEM from the cart, but since it didn't cause any problems the first time, I did what most people would do.

I accept the old printhead is end of life and the ink economies are more than sufficient to buy a new one, but that a 1 year old batch of yellow clogs a new printer worries me.
The number of reliable providers isn't growing...

The octopus-office.de yellow ink was since long in the cartridges (I used 250ml without many issues), the Yello Gello would have occurred sooner.
The problem started much sooner with the cyan, but this could be solved by cleaning instructions.

I have to double almost too, so I am at least on 25000 A4.
I rinsed the old printhead by injecting water in the ink inlet tubes. In particular the yellow took a long time.
Will see out of curiosity if this doesn't damage the printhead.
After damage in the cyan nozzles I replaced the octopus-office.de cyan with expired Canon OEM. This stabilized the situation and even removed some blank lines.
Since I considered the printhead toast I continued to use my first Maxify (the 5350) in grayscale settings.
