Canon (US) Pro-10 and (EU) Pro-10s? Same printer?

Hi all, Having bought a secondhand Pro-10s here in the UK, I recommended it to a friend in the USA. But he says he can't find a Pro-10s there, only a Pro-10. I then told him the Pro-10 was the previous model and several years old, I'm aware that the Pro-10 to Pro-10s upgrade is something to do...

Trouble with Canon Pro-10s software downloads and installation

Hi all, As has been documented here by others, the setup process of the Pro-10s is unbelievably messy and frustrating. However, I've managed most of it. Hooking up to WiFi was fun. It wasn't accepting the WPS signal and even though the blue light came steadily on, there was no connection...

Canon Pro-10s refilling InkTec, Octoinkjet, etc

Thanks, Hat, for the tip on "conversations"; yes, it's a bit confusing. As for filling, your detailed instructions are I'm sure all one needs. Can you help with my questions about mixing 3rd party ink with remaining OEM ink on the first topping-up of an OEM cart, and about determining whether...

Refilling HP 7740 A3 pigment printer with 953XL cartridges

Hi Hat, we're having 2 chats on 2 threads. Well I did look at Octoink before posting here, but they haven't got 953 carts listed, only bags for 970-971 cartridges and the BagCISS system. I'll ask as sometimes things aren't listed on the website.

Refilling HP 7740 A3 pigment printer with 953XL cartridges

Hi all, It seems HP were in a 2010 lawsuit with the result that they are obliged to allow their printers to function with refilled cartridges. So I went and bought a 7740, which has a useful A3 scanner on board. At £110 after HP cashback, and with a 3-year warranty, it has to be a decent...

Canon Pro-10s refilling InkTec, Octoinkjet, etc

Thank you Hat, websnail and Artur. It's good to know the experts approve my choice of printer. I was going for the Pro-100s before but was a bit concerned about ink fading. And then this Pro-10s came up for under £200 with less than 200 page count, so it was easy to go for it. In the USA people...

Does anyone have experience of PPD paper?

Hi all, That's Photo Paper Direct in the UK. They are offering A3+ 280gsm for just over £1 a sheet, that's cheap, but if the prints are going to be rubbish it's not cheap any more. My printer is a Canon Pro-10s, pigment. Thanks for any input. Peter

Canon Pro-10s refilling InkTec, Octoinkjet, etc

Hi all, I just bought a used Pro-10s with original Canon PGI-72 carts. There's quite a bit of ink left but I plan to refill with a 3rd party ink rather than buy more Canon cartridges. I've read every thread here about the subject, but some are 6 years old and suppliers/quality/prices change...

Epson WF-7720 yesterday printed only blue, today carts not recognised...

Thanks websnail, It seemed dry enough round the cable and connections, so I switched it off and pulled the cable, and next day it gave the same message, at which point I pulled the cartridges and snapped them beck and lo! recognised. But still no yellow ink comes through, so I'll first see if I...

Epson WF-7720 yesterday printed only blue, today carts not recognised...

Hi all, I bought this WorkForce 11 months ago, so still under guarantee. I don't use it much, although I did think I was using it enough to stop it clogging itself with dried ink, a few times a month. There was a month I was away, but it worked after that. About 4 months ago the so-called...

    HP CP1215 colour alignment issues

No problem giving this one up as I have my old HP LaserJet 6P which is a reliable monochrome if slow, and an Epson WF-7720 which has been good so far and is A3+. The CP1215 reports 37k pages. I thought this sounded a lot, but apparently it isn't. Never mind, it will be dismantled for useful...

    HP CP1215 colour alignment issues

Thanks Peter, the first link was good. It purports to be a service manual for the CP1215, but nowhere in 266 pages does it mention colour alignment or registration, so presumably it's either not a problem that ever happens, or it can only be fixed by changing major parts inside. The only mention...

    HP CP1215 colour alignment issues

Great, Stratman, thanks for replying. No scanner at present, but I took photos of the output with my phone. There is a spot of curvilinear distortion but you get the idea. The first pic is what comes out by pressing Resume on the front panel. The second two are of the test page generated by...

    HP CP1215 colour alignment issues

Hi all, I have a pretty old CP1215 which has been several years in dry, temp controlled storage, and I recently got it out thinking it might be useful. Since it had a few new toner cartridges with it, in sealed bags/boxes, I (probably foolishly, I should have sold them perhaps) fitted these. So...

Epson Workforce inks, use EcoTank inks instead?

@stratman, I stand corrected, indeed it was (of course) Precision Colors I spoke to. On their contact page is a US phone number, which I called, and below it a Canadian phone number. I failed to read the address, but I'm delighted they are among our Commonwealth partners.

Epson Workforce inks, use EcoTank inks instead?

Now that is an excellent bit of information, I mean about fooling the printer. Is it the case that ALL photo paper selections will disable the black ink? How exactly does the printer work with other kinds of paper? Here are what it presents me with, apart from photo paper: Plain Paper/Bright...

Epson Workforce inks, use EcoTank inks instead?

@ISF, thanks for the interesting solution. I'm not sure how it differs, in practice, from a CISS system which does have chips. However, for normal refillable ARC cartridges isn't it good to have an ink level indication to tell you when you need to squirt in some more ink?

Epson Workforce inks, use EcoTank inks instead?

Thanks Hat for the input, I'll call Octo tomorrow. I just spoke to Precision Color in USA. Very nice chap, talked for quite a long time, and told me this: 1. He can't sell me refillable cartridges because the EU versions of the printer take a cartridge with an EU chip (27), and would reject...

Epson Workforce inks, use EcoTank inks instead?

I'm grateful for your input. Empty, refillable ARC cartridges (27) with the larger XXL black seem to be completely unavailable in Europe. All I can find are sets of 4 with the black the same small size as the colours. Not really good. But I did find https://www.ebay.co.uk/372290341238 (which...
