It's not a silly question : the cleaning activity of the printer - either triggered by usage or the user or the power up sequence does not differentiate between inks during the cleaning cycle; it consumes a small fraction of all inks for this process. You are using 5 of the 6 inks so you would...
3000+ patches will not improve the black level, I have another assumption - it's the black ink itself. I assume that you are using a dye inkset on the L805 which makes a little bit difficult to compare it with the Pro100/200 pigment inks. I'm not a Canon user but tested and use a Canon black for...
It's difficult to compare print output from different printers - running on different systems - Windows - Apple - and using non-standard software tike Gutenprint. There is an effect of saturation reversal - more ink does not give you more color saturation, a linearisation would be necessary to...
You are victim of an aggrevating effect caused by the paper you are printing on - it curls - it's the solvent of the ink getting into the paper base , and the paper curls when the paper is drying - the solvent is evaporating. You can find lots of comments in the forum if you search for 'cast...
It's not that bad, you need to do some testing, and when it comes to whatever marks - from sprocket wheels etc check for them the next day, the coating does a light swelling wlhich makes such marks more visible, they go away in most cases. All these comments just indicate that not all papers are...
Just a few comments
- I can load 15 sheets 300 gr glossy paper into the rear bin, but paper thickness may vary for papers with the same weight
- since you are planning printjobs with quite some ink consumption - get a spare waste ink box since the printer is doing regular cleaning cycles to...
You would have to measure color differences of prints printed either with a 24 bit color file or a 48 bit color file, and your measurements would need to be more accurate than reading variations of the instrument and color variations of the prints. You could take such measurements and calculate...
I'm now running the Epson T3100x 24 inch printer since a while - without particular problems or peculiarities, I had to replace the waste ink box once.
The T3100X is a 4 color printer with dye inks - T3100X - or with pigment inks on the T3100. Such configuration uses a black ink which is tuned...
I'm looking to the 648 target sheet, and it's probably the same with the other files - they are stored as 48 bit RGB files, have you seen any benefit to start off printing the patch sheets with these *.tiff files , and not just with the common 24 bit (8 bit per color) files. ? I remember already...
Please post the nozzle check, and the mentioned sample. Did you do a cleaning cycle - or multiple ones ? Are you using genuine Epson inks ? Please check as well the warranty status on the Epson web page of your country - or here .
The dye-pig comparison target reports a black level for the dye print of L= 4.3 1.06 -7.31, that's a very good black level as well, not every ink/paper combination reaches such level. the b-level with -7.31 is typical for dye blacks showing a cool blue touch.
The gamut of the dye-print...

'To print by increasing black density, use black enhance overcoat in the printer driver.' This is apparently not happening - one way or another - Epson claims that there should be some...
It's a kind of funny that the black level is improving from test to test - it's now at L=2.25; it's a very good level of the Epson Photo black ink on the Netbit paper. The question remains at which condition - ink - paper - driver setting - the BEO actually does a black level improvement. Or...
Well - yes - I'm a kind of irritated, the no-BEO profile delivers a slightly better black level than with the BEO option active - Lab = 2,29 -0.19 -0.32, but this remains pretty much neutral with the a and b values. It would indicate that the BEO option does not do any good - at least.
I don't...
Thanks for the info, I'm reading a black level of Lab 2.67 0.37 -.03 for the Colormunki test, the i1Pro2 reads the same data.
That's a pretty good black level indeed , with an (almost) perfect neutral tone; it would be of interest how much of that is contributed by the Black Enhance Overcoat -...
The SC-P700/900 run with pigment inks, the ET-8550 with dye inks, their look on paper may be different. All these printers support B/W printing with the ABW - 'Adwanced Black/White function in the driver which let you easily do color tuning between sepia and cool steel blue.
Be aware that the...
I don't see the need to clean the ink paths - the inks are colorwise very similar if not identical. I did ink swapping several times - I pulled the 'old' inks out via the dampers, this lets you get hold of all the inks in the tubes etc except a few drops left. And you pull the new inks the same...
