Well, I like to refill OEM carts, but I have to buy new OEM's and empty them before they can be refilled.

For my Epson I've got refillables, they're not OEM.

For my Canon I often buy ready to use non OEM's, usually at the LIdl store, where I also buy my beer. Non OEM's are not refilled.

I use only new OEM Canon inks. I have an older Canon Pixma iP5000. The one and only time I tried "generic" ink, this ink clogged the printhead. I was unable to clean it, but I was able to find a used printer on EBay and scavenged that print head and the ink absorber pads that had become saturated while trying to get the generic inks to work.

For my 3880 I use the cartridges sold by Ink Republic (I think they are available from other sellers also). They are easy to refill and the resetting system also resets the waste ink tank. I refill with Inktec inks. Pharmacist has introduced these cartridges here on the forum. The cost for this including a full set of 250 ml of ink in each colur (not bought from Ink Republic) is about the same as one complete set of 80 ml OEM cartridges and then I have three times more ink and a reusable waste ink tank.

I think the result - around 50% for both refilled OEM and refillable compatible - could be read as:
- refilled CANON OEM, because most canon refillables with sponge are bad designed,
- refillable EPSON compatible, because most epson OEM are hard to refill
(except for T58xx if you learned the lesson from Mr Toolman and succeed in poking the valve..)

I have mostly purchased inkjets for which 3rd party carts, refilled OEMs, and remanufactured OEMs were available. That excluded/excludes most HP printers.
I also buy a second used printer that uses same carts, also print heads- JUST IN CASE
Eventually both printers die and are uneconomical to repair.
Now I am using a Canon Pixma MX860. Carts are as low as $1 although G&G carts[a bit better I think] are a bit more.
I have an extra printhead vacuum sealed, for possible future use.
My first MX860 was new but was old stock so 3rd party carts were available and inexpensive.
Even though the MX860 carts had chips, the folks in China were able to clone them.

I am now looking for a laser printer. One of my criteria is availability of laser carts that sell for under $30.I know that refilling laser carts is possible but messy.

I have never had much luck refilling inkjet carts, so buying 3rd party carts is critical for me.

For my Epson I use Piano Book CISS.
For Canon Pro 100 I use Precision Colors Refillable OEM. I think I've got that right. I took the chip off my original cart and put it on their cart.

So far using new OEM carts/ink that came with 9 ink Epson printer. Planning on third party carts and inks from PC but haven't decided for sure yet.

" jumping up and down for a chance to let everybody know about you particular set-up"
Maybe some people only want to give their opinion when not asked for? lol

Just started using refillable compatible carts with ARC. So, no real experience other that OEM.
