Precision new Pro 100 inks

Hello. I am late to the game on Precision's newer inks (PC42-M2, PC42-PM2 and PC42-BK2) for the Pro-100 (well haven't need to buy ink until now) and have a question. I need to reorder ink for the printer.

1. Do I need to flush these cartridges before filling them with the newer inks?
2. Is it ok to mix the 2 different inks?
3. Or, is it best to just go ahead and flush the cartridges so not to mix the 2 inks and save some headaches?

Squeezy bottle question. I want to order the larger bottles of ink this time. Is it ok to clean out the 2oz bottles and transfer from the larger bottles to the smaller ones? I don't want to purchase the larger squeezy bottles since I already have the small ones, which are easy to use.

Also, does anyone have a photo of PCs Bulk ink transfer spout cap? The website talks about it, but doesn't provide any photos?

No, however, do NOT refill the OEM YELLOW cartridge as a gelling precipitate may occur in the cartridge and ruin your print head. See Precision Colors warning on this at http://www.precisioncolors.com/PC42instruct.html

Yes EXCEPT FOR YELLOW as described above. Also, it may take several refills to use up / dilute the OEM ink with your new PC inks before you get a stable color gamut. This may or may not bother you aesthetically in the interim.

Only if you do not care to wait for the color gamut to be uniform each time you refill beginning with your first refill.

*** Note that it is possible to flush the PC42 YELLOW cartridge so that the "Yello Gello" (as @The Hat called it) does not precipitate on refill, BUT not everyone has success doing this. That is why it is best to use a CLI-8 Yellow cartridge (or some other PC42 or CLI-8 cartridge that has been flushed) for your refilling. You may even side step the Yello Gello entirely by never using the OEM CL42 Yellow in the first place.

Yes. The potential downsides are every time you open the bottles you risk spills as well as entry of contaminants (dirt, bacteria, fungi, mold). The exposure to air probably does not increase the rate of desiccation significantly unless you leave the caps off for extended periods of time.

I am definitely aware of the yellow cartridge as I've already cleaned and reused 1 of them. I just caught the 2nd cartridge when I went to refill the other day and have cleaned it, too, for reuse.

Also, I have a couple of the CLI-8 cartridges as backup, however, the one chip won't reset or the resetter doesn't recognize it. I assume the chip is dead - don't know what happened to it though. Just another day in life.

I will most likely clean those cartridges since I have 3 sets and won't cause any workflow issues.

You most likely damaged the chip white removing it from the yellow carts, shite happens...
