Epson R3000 Question

A friend at the Camera club I belong to has an Epson R3000 and is experiencing the following problem:

Running on a Mac and gets an error message that the platen setting is not the same as the paper selection. This error message prevents the printer from printing.

She says this problem appeared out-of-the-blue as previously she had printed from the same paper without problems.

My only Epson experience is with the 3880 and I can manually adjust different platen settings in the driver. Secondly the the 3880 does not seem to prevent printing if there is a perceived mismatch.

I am asking here if anybody can help as I said I would try and get some information about the problem.

Any suggestions appreciated.

first try to check the existing setting for any accidental changes which may occur during work.
second try this basic manual and go to page 24 onward .it may help solving the problem.

It’s possible that the Paper Detection system could be set or turned on in Custom settings, disabling this might help get it back, printing on a Mac seems to always cause problems for many people, I don’t know why this is..

MacOS is notorious for messing with printer drivers, so I would double check and make sure the correct driver is installed and working.

Otherwise, maybe check the correct paper source (sheet/front fine art/front poster board) is set for the media type?

In my experience its usually not the Mac O/S or the driver that has the problem, mostly its Pebkac...
For instance, why do all Mac users feel the need to instantly upgrade when a newer O/S is released...

They have to have it and they must also update the OS instantly and then...... My prints are suddenly magenta!

Couldn't agree more. A triumph of marketing over substance.

All of my four children are "Apple Munchers". They get sucked in at college where apple conducts mass marketing and gives deep discounts to students and faculty.

Not saying they do not have good products. Just that the hype exceeds the reality.

OK. Being retired and spending most of my free time reading posts and running my video channel, I will tell you what I experience almost 100% of the time.

Every single time I read a report or post of some weird odd problem with color management, image / paper alignment, driver problems, missing features and you name it.

As I read on and on, the thought begings to form in my feeble brain.....I wonder if.....this could be a.....and before I could form the word MAC.. I read.. " and by the way I am on MAC OS "whatever"!
BINGO!!!!! There is your answer.

It is 100% that the problems often described, I've never ever experienced or even KNOW of their existence. Oh and I have owned and operàted over 35 major photo printers of both main brands.
If you have watched my channel at all, you know what I am talking about.
I am currently on a PC running WIN 7 and have not have a single problem with any of my printers and their output that would attributed to The OS.
Any problems have always been traced to my own stupidity.
So there!

@Roy Sletcher, Well I would like to dispute this nicely, I reckon the hype is well worth the reality.
Roy this think of how much Apple has saved you on the kids toys..

In my experience, printing from Mac O/S is totally different that it is on a PC, but once you bother to learn the differences, then you’ll never have the same problem again...
