Hello,

I was spending days reading catching up on whether to use German, top fill, etc.
I have re-setter, ink, plugs, flushed yellow, etc. from PC, but decided to put a full set of inks in to delay refilling for awhile.

This printer was on its first fill and a day or two ago reported the black BK as low, so I stopped using it and now loaded all 8 new Canon official carts in it.

When I took out the carts: non-sponge tank: GY full, LGY full, PM 1/4 full,C 75%, PC half-full, NOW GET THIS: BK is 1/4 full!, lower sponge fully saturated. Yellow Empty, with lower sponge 75% "foam".
Magenta Empty, with 10% foam, mostly over output!

Now this is supposed to be fully refurbed and checked out, as my first one was DOA, confirmed power supply dead or overloaded. The wifi blue lamp would only flash for a second, and I never got far enough to install ink.

They told me to keep heads and ink and shipped me a core.

It has been printing perfectly, and once in awhile on my W7 box I noticed the ink levels decreasing as expected.

It showed black almost out a couple days, then the low warning.

NOT FAIR! I'm using all official inks and I still get burned

Your issue is not clear to me. Is it as expressed in the title?? Just what colors are in "second group". This tends to indicate a purge unit issue.

If it's still under warranty, you know what to do!

Hello,

If you go to head cleaning, you have a choice of 'all' 'group 1' 'group 2'.

Group 2 also is on the right side of your nozzle check sheet.
Bk, Light gray, dark gray, Cyan.

I replaced all 8 carts at once, all light up, and all show full on W7 machine.

Also, wrong cart was flagged 'low', and almost empty carts with dry prism not flagged.

Wonder if they will send a new unit or another refurb.

I just would like to note that it always amazes me how the US market deal with customers by sending refurbs as replacements etc.

In Europe there is no such thing as refurbished printer. There is only new or used (second hand). No company officially sells refurbished good, or replaces the good to refurbished if item is in warranty.

So I don't get it why all refurbished business in US? Aren't user rights protected there?

If you are in the US, the terms of the warranty permit refurb.

Do you also post on DPreview?

Different jurisdictions play by different rules.

Frequently in North America, probably due to over generous return policies, merchants and manufacturers end up with significant volumes of returned product.

To minimise their losses, or expenses, providing this service they will often recondition, IE Refurbish the product.

Or sometimes resell at a discount using terms like returned, or open box with varying discounts and warranties. Top end is usually, "Factory Refurbished - usually with full warranty, and substantial cost discount.

Personally, I do not see anything wrong with this if full disclosure of the origin, and definition of reconditioned or refurbished is disclosed.

Sorry this is long winded (just me I'm afraid), but it does explain some of the difference in the US market place. "Caveat emptor"

If you examine US and Canadian law buyers have a multiplicity of rights and protections if they are knowledgeable and careful purchasers.

The US is a very litiguous society, with very aggressive lawyers. A buyers legal rights are no more then a 1-800 phone call away.

Unusual subject I must say!
