Certainly, I can understand the requirement for the nozzle count to be some power of two, for purely digital reasons...

But then how about the 320 PGBK nozzles in the QY6-0064 print head used in the iX4000 printer. This is copied from the service manual:

320 approximately equals 2^8.322 ? That doesn't look very "digital" ?

Shouldn't we expect 256 or 512 nozzles instead?

Edit: 320 = 256 + 64 = 2^8 + 2^6 which looks much more "digital".

I got an iX4000 and have never found it wanting, it’s designed to do mainly documents and a reasonable job on photos, as is my iX7000 and it never crossed my mind once as to how many nozzles they both got, I am not bother because they do the job I got them for ! ;)

I guess your iP4500 is faster than the iX4000 due to a print head with more nozzles printing a wider stripe per pass?

The fastest printer I got is the iP4700 but like the iP4500 they can’t handle A3+ brochures and I only use these two little beauties for Duplex work where speed is greatly reduced anyway.:caf

Speed has never been a big hit with me because the more I speed up the more mistakes I make which turns out slower, I tend to print the background colour on one printer and the text and graphics on another next day, so speed what speed..:D
