I installed a new black cartridge, yet it does not show a full bar on the graph.
I am using the original set of cartridges for my Epson 1430. I ran a test print and it turned out well.

I have an idea... please, some of you veteran Epson printer users, tell me if my analysis and solution are correct. I'm still learning but here's what I think:

I was trying to help Pamela and the ink light was flashing. This shows the ink level is low but not totally out. If it was totally out of ink, and if you then install a new cart, your ink level on the bar graph would show as full. But since the old cart was not totally empty the light flashes. The printer assumes the old cart is still in the printer so you have to manually reset the new cart. i have a chip resetter. Should I reset the cart manually to show the black cart as full? The cart is full, we don't use the resetter for that. But we do need to reset the cart to let the printer know and then the bargraph will get the message.

Hard to explain!

Thanks all,

Paul

In the good old days when Canon didn’t use chips on their cartridges, and back then if you change out a cart before it registered as low with a brand new one, the ink levels would continue to show the same level of the old cart till it too got low...

Interesting history there, The Hat, but what about resetting the black cart with a chip resetter?

Thank you!

It’s got nothing to do with the cartridge chip, it’s the Eprom in the printer that’s reporting the incorrect levels, as I said a lot of printers can do exactly the same thing..
That problem has now been corrected in all newer printers...
