I'm new to the forum. I need a printer that will print on large format. At least 11x17. Doesn't have to be bigger than that but has to be at least that.

I've searched far and wide and am more confused than when I started. I'll be printing only a few times a week on this thing. Maybe ten one page jobs a week. So as long as it works, I'm good with that. I will be printing building plans in black. I am ok with a color printer but don't need it. I'd go with laser or ink. Just looking for the most cost-effective. Any recommendations?

Thanks
Lefty

The Canon PRO-100 (photo, but works OK for text/graphics) is a real bargain when rebates are in effect (nothing current now that I know of).

Rebates lower the delivered price (in the USA only) to much less than $75, including 50 sheets of 13" x 9" paper. Keep an eye out here for rebate announcements.

That said, a laser printer is more in line with your needs...actually a printing service might be that most economical for your situation.

Thank you. I was hoping you wouldn't say that. I was thinking the same thing though. I have a UPS store about 500 yards from my place. Given the volume I'd be putting through it, it makes more sense to email the job and let them do the heavy lifting. I just like the idea of being able to print when I want to print. Maybe I can convince myself I'd find other uses for it, with 2 young ones in school and such. I also have a Brother HL-3170CDW. So it's going to be tough to convince my wife.

Thank you for the recommendation.
