I have not been able to find any latch and the wheel will not turn counter clockwise. I might have to take the carriage out to find the stopper (and lose the printer).

Version 5204 was tricky to buy on ebay. I bought from one, got keyccode from another and refund from a third name. I believe I have deleted the program.
I had to install on a pc without virus check, and I think it was on my XP pc.
It was a three step process. Get and run a code to identify pc. Mail code result to seller. Get a new download URL.
I think there is only 'virus trouble' with the first code, but I can't verify.
The program was starting ok, but I only used the printout and resetting the value of the absorber counter.
I got my copy from resetyourprinter

I've found the carriage release. See the picture.

It seems only to be one of the obstructions.
Lever on second picture have to be down to let go af the carriage.

Now I'm back at error6000 after cleaning and checking.
Any ideas?

Good job unlocking your print head carriage. :thumbsup

Any ideas?
Did you try the various fixes linked in my post #7?

Using the forum search function I searched for "Error 6000". I found two threads I think might be useful. See this and this

I belive I've tried all of #7 and #14.
I think the problem now is that the LF disk/wheel and shaft can only turn in one direction, when going the other way there is an obstruction.
I fear something may have been broken as the carriage can not be moved all to the right.
I'll try some more.

Could there still be a removable obstruction?

At this point you might as well carefully dissemble the printer further to allow for a complete inspection. Maybe there is something blacking the way that can be removed. :idunno

Make sure to document every step along the way, like with a camera, so assembling the printer is easier.

I'm now deep in my MG7550.
I still can't turn the wheels an operate the carriage hatch.
I believe that the problem is in the righthand side (see the upsidedown picture below).
Have anyone been there and can tell me what to expect or what to watch out for?

I've found the reason for the print head not releasing. See picture 'spring1'. The spring in the red circle was broken and the part in the green square is in a wrong position.
I've not been able to find the error for this.

In this process I now have an additional part, I don't know where it goes. It dropped out as I overturned the printer main unit. See picture 'overskud'.

Does the printer have CD print capability? If so and if it is somewhat mechanically similar to older printers I think the part could be used for raising the print head carriage rail when printing CDs. If so there are two of these levers or "hooks". See some similar hooks from an iP5200 in this instruction from druckerchannel.de. And here it is in English.

When disassembling older Canon printers and if you are not aware of these hooks and remove them before lifting the upper part of the casing, they might get dropped, maybe into the printer mechanism.

The printer can print CD's and there were space for the part - thank you very much.
I've changed the ink-absorber. (See the picture narb.png).

The error 6000 has gone.
Instead I get an error C000. I can't find anything stuck anywhere and the whells seem to be turning freely (both directions). The cartridge-holder gets free and can be moved.
I don't understand: cleaning the purge unit. Should I press water trough?
Should I just clean the pads of mail #18?
