@pearlhouse, the Maxify printer is so versatile that it can take just about any ink without complaining, but it has its limits as @Artur5 found, it probably could take dye ink too, but I’d never recommend that in case it flooded all over the paper.

Any Canon pigment ink will work, it doesn’t necessarily have to be specifically for the Maxify, and the printer hardly ever clogs up and you’re not bother with constant cleaning cycles, that’s one of its many attractions...

You don’t need to purchase another set of carts, because you can refill the first set of OEM’s, you don’t need a resetter eider, because you can over-ride the ink monitoring and you can refill individual carts when thay are declared empty.

I wouldn’t do the above procedure myself, because I prefer to use refillable carts and ARC chips from China and refill at my own convenience and not wait for a cart to go empty..

Click on the link in my last post and look at the PGI-1200 listing. This is the Maxify ink, one inkset fits all.

These must be of good quality if you continue to use them. Can you post the link to the cartridges and ARC chips from China please.

I got these carts with Arc’s, and you can see the internal spring and channel system they have inside them, and the Arcs have the holes in them, if they don’t they are not ARC's.. The cost of ARC chips are about the same price as both Chips and carts together...

Choose wisely and not just by price alone, there are many different models with all sorts of extras, like bigger carts, and the double paper tray...

If you don’t find the ink you’re looking for then try https://store.inkjetcarts.us/mb5020-c1654.aspx

But Mike does stock it....

Probably all Autoreset chips come from the same Chinese factory.
Mine were purchased at AliExpress but I bet you’ll find them in Ebay and other sites.
Only difference will be the price you pay. Most European/American retailers will charge more than Chinese vendors because they purchase in China and sell them to you afterwards.

Not much personal experience about their longtime performance yet. I’ve replaced only once the black cart when it was declared in “unknown condition” by the driver. After refilling and reinstalling the cartridge in the printer, it resetted back to full without problems. So far so good.

I have not found aftermarket cartridges with ARC chips on AliExpress specifically designated for the Maxify MB5120
There are only two types of Maxify ARC chips made that I know of and it’s one size fits all models, one chip does all the larger carts and a different chip for the smaller carts, have a look at the label on these cart for individual numbers..

I saw that before and wondered if these were regional cartridge model numbers. For some reason I thought there were only 8 regions, not 9. :idunno

The cartridges in your other link only lists 6 different 4-digit numbers on the cartridge label. Are there only 6 Regions then?

Maybe the Chinese improved the universality of their ARC chips.

What is clear is that your links identify the specific Regions those sets of cartridges are for and it is not North America. :(

I did find PGI2200 / PGI2200XL cartridges from the same brand name, boma.ltd, on AliExpress.

The PGI2200 web page clearly states for North America and even lists the fill volumes, but not for the MB5120 model Maxify.

The PGI2200XL, while "NEW and HOT", does not state the compatible region nor list fill volumes. The Maxify 5120 is not listed either. Comparing the package size from each link does show a significant larger size for the PGI2200XL set, but for all we know this could be cardboard filler packaging.

Still.... it's NEW and HOT!

You’re getting mixed up on the numbers, the nine numbers on these carts are model numbers for all the different world regions, the numbers above 2100 are for the larger carts and the numbers for the smaller carts start at 1200. (Two different chips)

The Chinese made 2 Arc chips to cover all the Maxify models in every region, my MB 5155 has the same compatible carts as the Pic I posted, and the official OEM cart number for my model are 2500, but these same carts will work in the MB5120 too.
What is the OEM cart number for the US Maxify MB5120. /
