In fact I removed the resetter from the plastic case, checking with a tester the voltage in the PCB when it was connected to the computer by the USB cable. It was OK. Exactly 5.07V between + and ground. So it isn’t the cable or the plug.

That PCB is very simple. Only a chip, which does all the job, a few SMD resistors/capacitors, a mini voltage regulator and the golden pins that make contact with the PCB when you seat the cartridge on top of them.
Nothing corroded at sight but, of course, liquid ink may do a lot of internal damage to that main chip if it falls on the wrong place and the resetter is powered.

I once spilled ink onto an ARC chip on a CLI-551M refillable cartridge when refilling. I thought I had cleaned the chip completely but the chip was ruined when the cartridge was inserted in an MG5550. Luckily the printer was not damaged. So I can confirm that wet ink can damage electronics.

Today I got trouble with my Pro10S and it’s all my fault.
@Artur5, that’s a real bummer when a chip goes west on you, suggestion:- can you get a PK black chip from a CLl-8 cart and see if that will work, because most of the 9500 chips are the same as the CLl-8’s...

Thanks for letting us in on your stupid mistake, maybe it might stop others doing the same...

Another suggestion:- If you have a spare chip any colour will do, try putting that on your PK cart and inserting it, yes it will be rejected but it might cause a reset and then it may except the earlier rejected chip..

Everything is worth a try..

Most probably PRO-10 chips are different (if not the resetter would be the same as the 9500).

That's maybe an argument to keep the 9500's: I have so many cartridges the chance to be stuck as @Artur5 is small.

@Artur5 : I wonder if you do not overfill your carts, it happens to me too I have to reset a full cart, but I have no ink spill doing so.
Since the carts are physically the same, full weight of OEM is 31.5g on average.
Minus 14g declared ink = 17.5 empty.
What is the weight of your PRO-10S resetted carts when empty ?
Most of mine still weigh over 20g, meaning the resetted chips do not count the full 14g, wich is a minor disadvantage but an additional argument to not overfill.

Good luck, what happened to you is not the end of the world, I even think there is a big chance your resetter is not damaged.

PS: after refill I push a few times on the cart (with the ink outlet up) to remove air and foam (as shown on the octoinkjet.co.uk videos)

Another tip on how to reset the PGl-9 / PGl-72 carts when full..

Turn both the cart and the resetter upside down and then apply the necessary pressure to make contact with the brass pins, if by any chance ink does spill out it can only flow down the cart and mess up your fingers...
That’s a good enough reminder to reset first.... Next time.. :thumbsup

Thanks a lot. A really good idea ... and I'm utterly ashamed that I hadn't thought of it before..:D

Possibly Pro10 and Pro9500 carts aren’t 100% the same size ?. My totally empty PGI-72 carts with bottom clip weight 18.0gr. Properly refilled should be around 33 gr. Exception is chroma optimizer which is 32gr. being less dense than regular colors.
Now, in most Internet sites people are assuming that 14ml of ink= 14gr and this isn’t exactly the case. I measured the density of Octoinket Pro10 inks at 1.06-1.07 gr/ml for regular colors and 1.00 gr/ ml for Chroma. Therefore, 14ml of regular ink weight around 15gr. and 14ml of Chroma are 14 gr. Other ink brands might be slightly different but not much, I guess.

Like you, my carts declared empty by the driver weight at least 20-21 gr. I wouldn’t criticize Canon for being over cautious. Better being safe than sorry and, if we refill, no ink is lost. Of course, people using single use cartridges waste 10-15% of the ink.

I'm not optimistic at all about that resetter. I believe is kaput or it wouldn't have damaged the second PB chip.
