... when used in Duplex mode the Maxify applies its own type of Draft mode to reduce the amount of show through in black..
Are you sure ?.. I don’t see any difference in print quality or density between autoduplex and printing on both sides manually. Speed it’s practically the same too,

What I noticed is that autocleaning cycles and general routines of maintenance seems to be less frequent than with my other Canons. In less than 2 weeks I’ve printed 1700 pages. Only once printing didn’t start immediately and the front panel displayed a message saying that a cleaning was being performed, as if the machine was apologizing for delaying the job and wasting my time.
Compare this polite behaviour with my Pro10s that ten times out of ten starts clinking and whirring for quite a while before bothering to pull the paper ... and no apologies at all !.
( The fact that it doesn't has a front display is no excuse :D )

The biggest irritation with the Maxify is the stupid message that pops up about registering the paper every time you open the paper drawer. Not very handy for us skinflint types that like to runs nozzle checks and print on the other side of the paper :)

Apart from that it's a great printer :)

Hi,

It might be mentioned before. I have found that you can switch that message off:

From Front Panel, swipe to settings, advanced, casette settings -> detection

Greetings

Wow! didn't know that. It's handy if you are absent minded and are printing on different sized paper and then next day forget to change it, but I'd rather turn it off :)

Update after some weeks of use.

As I wrote before, for me the only real issue with the MB5150 was occasional double paper feed. This was resolved modifying my printing workflow. Instead of precutting A5 sheets from DIN A4 paper and printing afterwards, now I print directly on A4 paper using the booklet option and I cut afterwards to DINA5. This way, any double feed would spoil only one sheet and not the whole job, as before.
If I use paper that has been removed from the wrapping and left around some time I still have double feed, but it’s rare now. With paper that has been kept in sealed plastic bags with silica gel this problem never happens, It’s a question of humidity.

Aside from this matter I experienced recurring clogs after switching from OEM to black ink from Arici. I thought at first that it was because of unexpected interaction between the residual Canon OEM and the compatible ink, but those clogs reappeared even after flushing the cart. It wasn’t like in my former Pixmas, where the grid of the nozzle test shows a blank space where a nozzle is clogged, No, in this case I had a double line in the problematic nozzles. almost never a blank.
A regular cleaning cycle took care of the clogs, only to reappear after a few days. In the end. I purchased black Inktec ink and, when the Arici stuff in the black cartridge was exhausted, I flushed it and refilled with Inktec. Not a single clog since then (touching on wood ).

I’ve been using Arici products for years without issues. Sure, their dye inks are prone to fast fading, as most third party, but their black pigmented for Pixmas (which is very cheap ) never gave me any trouble. Now, their black pigment for Maxify doesn’t seems to be much good. Strange thing is that it’s four times more expensive than the one for PGI-5 carts, which performs OK. Go figure..
I haven’t tried yet their other inks because I print very little in color and there’s still OEM ink in the cyan, magenta and yellow carts. Probably I’ll buy Inktec C,M, and Y and Arici’s will be discarded. Maybe they’re OK but...

I have 2 identical OEM Cyan carts refilled a few times with the same ink from octopus-inkjet.de.
With the first I have clogs nearly every day, with the other one (and all other coulours) never.
I discarded the culprit.

Seems there must be other factors in play.

My carts are OEM. Performed flawlessly with OEM ink. Period.
Trouble started after refilling the black cart with Arici. Flushing the cart to get rid of the mix Canon-Arici and refilling again with Arici didn’t help. Period.
Flushed cart again to eliminate residual ink. Refilled with Inktec. Everything fine since then.
If you had to name the guilty part, it can’t be that particular cartridge or the printer.. What’s left ?

Anyway, @palombian and@The Hat, if you want to try for yourselves that Arici stuff, just give me your address and I’ll send it to you free of charge. Black, cyan, yellow, magenta.. it’s all yours.:D

Maybe what I described as clogging is bad ink feed due to mechanical dysfunction.
OEM carts are not made for refilling, the ink outlet has no valve, could have improper sealing or whatever.
It was the first PGI-2500 OEM I refilled, maybe I did something wrong.
Just guessing (and not really a problem).

I see the ARICI ink is sold € 13 per liter, maybe for that price you can't expect much.
