Color Mechanic is a third party plug in for Photoshop, about as old as your PS version, that's the reason it is not supported anymore for newer releases. It's easy to install - there is a manual available for download. There is not much what can go wrong - installing is easy - just copying a file or two, and if you don't like it you just delete these files. Plugins - program add-ons by 3rd parties - have a .8bf file ending, there is a huge collection of such plug-ins available - free and paid versions.
Such plug-ins work as well with other programs which have an interface for them. I use it with a verison of Paintshop Pro.

I'm not aware of a 50hr timing window in the P400 doing an offline cleaning or whatever. My Brother printer does something like that once in a while - offline in the evening.

Funny how these things exist without crossing my path despite my obvious interest!
Thanks for your help. Julia
