I wanna know if anyone used them. Any drawbacks? What are their counterparts from other brands? Thanks

The L7180 might be the same as ET-7750.
Also, I know they have a max paper weight rating of 300 gsm. However, for a specific laser printer, a technician warned us that we should not print on the max paper weight, or else serious damage will happen. I wanna know if this is the same for these two Epsons, or for inkjets in general. Thanks

Epson is using different model names in different business regions, the L7160/7180 correspond to the ET-7700/750 sold in Germany. The ET-7750 takes 300 gr paper, but it not just a matter of the weight but as well a matter of stiffness and thickness of the paper which may differ. If you have a problem to feed a paper from the bottom tray you can use the rear paper bin which just bends the paper by 45 deg , and not 180 deg from the bottom tray. I was working with 300 gr papers without problem.
Counterparts - I'm not aware of a similar tank system printer from other companies for A3 , and A4 tank system printers by Canon or HP or Brother don't offer you separate pigment and dye black inks, they all use a 4 color dye CMY inkset with a pigment black.

Good to know they can handle 300 gsm pretty well. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know the life expectancy of ink tank printers in number of pages when nearly full page images are printed? Thanks

Epson printheads have a good mileage anyway - it does not make a difference if the printer runs on ink tanks or cartridges. Just to give you some examples - I did about 18 000 - 20 000 pages - most of them full A4 sheets - with an R265, or 8000 A4 pages with an R800 , or 3300 m of 24" poster paper with a Pro 7600 or a mix of 5000 A4 full pages and 50 000 pages of mixed text/internet and such with an L382. I would think the printers could do more, but I'm experimenting that much with inks , dye and pigment, that I get the printers out of operation before they would die from excessive load, I'm not complaining

Thanks for giving me the numbers. I saw warranties on some cheaper (around 250$) Epson ink tanks to be 30,000 pages, and the more expensive (around 600$) have 50,000 pages. Another printer, the L805 or L850, if I remember right, did not have the warranty in pages, but in photos (I do not know which size), 3000 of them.
