I have an Epson XP 960 and want to install a CISS system. All the instructions that I have seen are confusing to me. I understand that I need to downgrade my firmware since a new version has been installed.
Can anybody help me to understand what I need to do?
Thanks

Hi Greenie,

Any particular reason or source that has implied that a firmware downgrade is required? It's news to me but I'm behind the curve on chip compatibility of late so certainly not up to speed at present.

The tool I know of is the WICReset utility through 2manuals which you can get firmware downgrade functionality from with a specific digital key which you must purchase. Recommend you read around to see what version it downgrades to and/or is compatible with to save you time, expense and the like.

I was thinking about adding a CISS system to my printer, everything I read says don't upgrade the firmware. So I was wondering about a downgrade, since I have upgraded my firmware.

Ah... I see..

Well, probably best to contact the CIS supplier(s) you've short listed and use it as a litmus test to see if they know their product and can tell you whether your current firmware version will fall foul or not. Be wary of immediate "No it'll be fine!" re-assurances that seem a little "too quick" if you catch my drift. I'm personally not aware of any firmware issues on the XP-960 but a good CIS seller will know where, if any, limitations lie and be able to help further.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't jump to downgrading firmware if it's not a necessary step to getting a CIS working.
