Hi guys,

I bought this MG 3650 second hand and I'm not sure if I've been duped.

It's a weird one because the nozzle check (see image 1) prints fine but when you print a document it's all misaligned (image 2). Sometimes it's better than other times, but never perfect. Have also tried manually aligning head several times. Could this just be because the ink is running low? but then I dont understand why image 1 pattern is perfect but documents aren't.

I have tried all the different tests/fixes using maintenance and basically would be great if you guys could just help to ascertain whether I just need to buy a brand new one or if there's any chance of rescuing this.

Thanks so much

I think the problem could be caused by a dirty timing strip. See this thread and this. The MG 3250 is similar to your printer.

I suggest to clean the timing strip as suggested in this post and do a new cartridge alignment. If that doesn't help, then a new black cartridge might solve the problem.

@damha_uk, If you have a problem trying to figure out what to look for, here is a more clearer photo..

Thank you for the feed-back. I'm glad the cleaning worked.

Thanks folks - I was pulling my hair out with this one and cleaning the timing ribbon worked perfectly on an MG3650S
