Can this printer's ink tanks be refilled? (easily)or a CIS System be installed?

We are looking at this printer because it can do fax and larger paper sizes and it is considerably cheaper than the next choice.

The other choice is an Epson WF 3750 which is a nice size, and has refillable reservoir but lacks Fax and large paper size.

There are refill cartridges for this printer model on the market, or you look for 3rd party cartridges . I would not install a CISS
on this type of printer.

Thanks Ink stained Fingers,

Out of curiosity why would you not put a CISS on this type of printer?

you need to reset the cartridges anyway, the printer does not know that you are running it with a CISS. The placement of the tubing
is critical, it may work for a while, and then suddenly it bends differently and is blocking the carriage, or touches the paper or loops differently, jams whatever . You cannot monitor it, the scanner is on top, the printing area is closed. It's not all that simple and reliable as some simple instruction sheet may imply. It works if the printer is designed for it - like the Epson L... series or ET...Ecotank models, or in Brother printers, but I got quite some problems with several of those retrofit CISS units on several printers in the past.

Refill cartridges may hold about 10ml of ink for the colors, black up to 30ml as I remember, those tanks of the Amazon offer may hold about 100 - 120 ml of ink per color - that's far below the quoted 40x. One of the problems with the CISS assembly is the holding bracket glued to the top cover, this may get loose after a while, plastic parts are injection molded and treated with some chemical easing the separation of the plastic from the mold, and this agent will make it more difficult to glue something onto the surface reliably. You would have to clean that agent away , I had problems in this respect several times and used a screw to hold that bracket in place several times. And the flexing of the tubes is another problem area. A CISS works, yes, but with surprises and does need ongoing attention. The CISS shown uses a reset button, that is o.k., but as said before, you get all the interruptions as with normal cartridges, the printer stops in the middle of a page when the chips are counted down, you need to do a reset, the printer does a cleaning and fills the waste ink container regardless and somehow continues the interrupted printout.

Thanks ISF. Excellent explanation. Sorry for asking pesky questions.
