Best place to get 2nd set of CLI-42

My printer is the Canon Pro-100. I have been refilling the carts now for around a year. Man, it saves a ton of money. As soon as one cart shows low, I refill all carts. Not really been a problem, but it does interrupt things a bit. I’d like to get a complete 2nd set so I can do what most of you recommend...

Obviously, I could buy a set of OEMs and when they become empty, drill and refill. However, is it possible to buy empty OEM cartridges with chips? I’m sure that this community must do this quite regularly. I did check on PrecisionColors website but Mike does not recommend buying the ones he provides since that are not OEM.

Any advice appreciated.

Octoink in the UK sells a complete set of CLI-42 unflushed empties - http://www.octoink.co.uk/products/Canon-Pro%2d100-EMPTY-CLI%2d42-Cartridge-Set.html?setCurrencyId=3

Look on Craigslist and eBay. These are likely to be new cartridges selling at less than retail instead of empties, but who knows, you might run across some less inexpensive empties like this.

OR, buy another Pro=100 at the ridiculous rebated discount price and get another print head abd body as well for "just in case". Currently $149 at Adorama and B&H Photo till end of January, but the new round of rebates should begin February 1st if Canon continues the pattern and final cost may be even better. :thumbsup

Probably a good idea to flush all the Octoink empties before refilling. You do know about NOT refilling the CLI-42 unless thoroughly flushed or else risk the Yello Gello? You can also swap the CLI-42 Yellow chip onto the body of a CLI-8 cartridge for safe refilling.

I will flush. In the past I've used windex followed by lots of water. That OK? Also, I've just realized I didn't get any of the plastic plugs!!!

That is good. If you flush the Yellow then it must be Windex with Ammonia D till white sponge, or almost white sponge,then a final water flush to rid the Windex. Using water beforehand will risk Yello Gello. @The Hat recommendation here.

Thanks again for the recommendation about Octoink. As I mentioned above, I forgot to order the filler plugs, but they added some for me at no cost. They have also included a yellow CLI-8 at no cost to make sure I can avoid the yelly-jelly problem. Their customer services is very good.

Precision Ink sells them...without chips though.
