Hi,

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a (CM749A) printer with 2014 firmware (CLP1CN1435AR version) and drivers dating back to 13/11/2015, to which I have installed today these four refillable cartridges purchased on Aliexpress.

Initially they were recognized as new non Hp cartridges, but as soon as I tried to print out a page, the printer stop working showing this message: "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persist, contact HP."

I was able to follow Foxx's instructions in post #10 here, until "install the cartridges again", but after that the message appeared again.

Can I hope to find a solution or must accept the fact that using compatible cartridges with HP printers can be very problematic ?

Do like I did after dealing with that for awhile, I bought a CIS system. Prints beautifully, no threats.

CIS took me maybe 1/2 hour to install and now lots of inexpensive printing.

@flyboy , The problem is not the size of the ink container (Ciss or normal cartridge), but the installed chip.

Many compatible cartridges sold on Amazon adopt the same chip installed on my cartridges, that is easily recognizable by shape, color and W3, V1 characters.

Considering that they have received thousand of user feedback, almost all of which are positive, I expected that they would work well.

What kind of CISS are you using ?

What kind of CISS are you using ?

Getting a CISS for your printer may not work either, if your printer can detect you are not using standard OEM cartridges, then the CISS cartridge may have exactly the same issue...

Not really. the printer dialogues are all predictable.

Sometimes if you remove the new heads, put in some old dead ones turn it on and in the meantime wash the new chips with alcohol briefly they will work, when you reinstall the newbies.

I seem to recall going into the preferences very deeply and changing things and it working better. Maybe even Google your problem.

I have done everything described in this article (except for steps 4 and 5) without solving anything: the printer always stays locked with that message.

I don't explain how it is possible that this product that is using the same cartdriges chip as mine, seems to work according to the user feedback ... almost all 5081 customer reviews are positive

I solved the problem described above by putting back the jumpers I had removed before inserting these new cartridges.

However, I noticed that although I had almost completely filled the black cartridge with ink, after two days, only half of it remained: for some reason the black cartridge is losing ink and the printhead remains soaked and drips.

Even when I print in colour, now it's as if I were only printing with black ink....

printhead is flooded or damaged if black is leaking
take head apart, look at TOP of head
SOME people have cut a little plastic square to DROP into the hole Under clear thin plastic, then MELTED a STRAW with lighter, dripping into the crevice
check for leaks in the plastic seal
I'm about to GLUE a RUBBER STRIP on top of MINE, so I can FORCE a head clean, there is a TOOL
look up HP 950

if the printhead is damaged it is very difficult to get replacement. We had no joy and just ended up buying new printer
