My printer which has worked fine for a very long time (760 stylus colour) suddenly refuses to print in Windows 10 for no apparent reason, when I click print it sends to the printer as per usual than nothing happens, I check the print queue & nothing appears in there, try again just the same, the printer is properly recognised in the control panel printers section, shown as working correctly with a nice green tick on the icon for it, tried to update driver just in case Win 10 says best driver already installed, ran printer troubleshoot which finds nothing, I unplugged the USB cable, uninstalled & reinstalled, Err, I'm stumped, any idea's?

P.S. when I go into the utilities menu & click on print test, it works just fine, baffled ;-)

Try un-installing the print driver, then re-booting and re-installing the print driver again, it could also be the App your trying to print from, especially if Win 10 has done a sneaky update... :hu

Yes, have done that as well, uninstalled printer, reinstalled , checked for updated driver again, correct printer is showing with a nice green tick on it

The print test page doesn't work (i meant the other below), nor any other print from emails , spread sheets or word processor but in the utilities nozzle print check weirdly does, but it's the only thing that will print, no apparent changes from me

is there anything in the printer settings that may have been changed by windows madness that may cause this to happen, as I never go fiddling in there anyway, as never had any need to as it just worked fine, until now?

anything sent to print seems to show as going as per usual but never arrives at the printer or shows in the print queue, I did pause the printer in the settings & it kept the item in the queue, when I unticked the hold it just disappeared if that makes sense

80% of faults on electrical equipment are due to "connectors". It may seem obvious but re-check all cables etc. are properly plug together.!!

did you get the recent monthly patch update, or the upgrade to the 1709 Fall Creator's version ? Do you get a notice during driver installation that your driver may be uncertified ?

It is still possible in Win10 to block driver updates.
I did not notice any changes (nor had this message) for my Canon printers with the Fall Creator's update.

no messages when tried to reinstall driver apart from you have the best one already installed (but did uninstall & reinstall anyway which went smoothly)), not aware of any recent different updates as Win 10 doesn't seem to tell you anything about them these days, there was a update a few days ago though, but previous one's have caused no problems, unsure if the printer stopped printing after this or not, but I think it was initially OK after the update, just seems so random with no obvious cause/problem

the 2nd Tuesday in a month is the Microsoft day for the monthly patch updates, and they are rolling out at this time the fall update (1709 Creator's update) for Win 10 operating system. The update screen of Win10 should show you which updates have been installed by date. And this op system udpate is checking lots of things including drivers . I got drivers deactivated for this reason by the 1703 March update. But as you see above - other points have been raised as well to check for, so there are different reasons possible.

Yes, just done it this way to be sure, but still the same unfortunately, ran the troubleshooter & everything came back as fine again
