My OEM ink tanks started running low. Been dreading that as the new ink replacement would be 1/3 the price I paid for the printer.

After trying to find info on the web, there was not much I could locate specifically on the ipf 6300. A bit more on the ipf 8300 which I think is an identical system, just a narrower paper? Hence this post.

Debated on OEM ink or risking the print heads with non OEM? I currently run OCP ink in a Canon pro9000 MK2. No problems, great results. After 2 years had to do a nozzle cleaning cycle as a couple of colors skipped a bit. One nozzle clean and all has been 100% for 3 months.

2-3 months ago I purchased and installed all 12 tanks and ink from InkJetCarts.
Having printed 80-100 sq ft, all is working 100%. Not sure if I have actually printed with inkjet carts yet. I did not purge the system ,aka moving the printer.

Ross at inkjetcarts was extremely helpful with personal instructions on moving the chips from my OEM tanks into the replacements. He did stress I need to print more often that once per month and to religiously remove and agitate the ink tanks once per week 24 hours prior to printing. Takes 3-5 minutes, no big deal.

So far I've printed 80-100 sq ft. All is working 100%. Did a ColorMunki profile for 2 papers I use. So far nothing appears to have changed.
Probably still a fair amount of OEM ink in the lines.

I'll post again in the future after another 100-200 sq feet of printing. I will also continue with the new profiles.

If anybody else has longer term results, I'd love to see a few comments.

All of them! LOL
His inks are supposed to be a very good match to CANON OEM "Lucia" inks for that printer model.
So you may or may not see a different between whatever residual Canon inks and your new "Lucid" inks.
What you should have done was to re initialize your printer. Don't know if that is an option in your LCD screen.
At the least two to three cleaning cycles should have flushed out most of the original ink.

But in experience with other printers, IJC inks ( which are probably custom blended ) as well as IS inks from Precision Color tend to be a very close match to both EPSON and CANON OEM inks so you can probably continue to use previous profiles. You might want to re profile after you have used up about 1/3 of your new IJF inks.

Please keep us to date what your results. I watched a video that Ross did on the Canon IPF8300 and got me thinking......

Thanks for your info.

So far everything is going well.
Ink tanks are down 15-20 percent. Should be getting close to new ink in the print head soon.

One item Ross did mention was to print once per week if possible, and to manually agitate the ink tanks on a similar schedule the day before printing. Takes a few minutes.

No apparent color shifty, but will re-profile soon with color munki.

More in a month or so.

All is working fine.
Re profiled with color munki. Prints looking as good as oem ink. No plugging issues.

One thing I have noticed is the pigment inks of the ipf printer don't do as well with metallic papers as compared to my dye ink pro 9000 mk2. The transparent nature of the dye ink really comes apparent. Unfortunately the max paper size of 13 x 22 is a problem for me.

Hello RocDoc !

I'm interrested in your experience with InkjetCart inks . How is it going ?

And what about the B&W prints ? Are they as neutral as with OEM Canon inks ??

thanks for the info !

It been 3-4 years since i switched to Inkjetcarts.

None of my prints have faded. I print about 400' of 24" paper a year.

The inks still work, but i do have a repetitive on going clog with the green ink. It always clears up with a cycle a cycle A cleaning. Usually need to do this once per week. I tried a new tank nozzle , new spring and replaced the old ink with new. Clogs on the green came back within a month or two.

I profile with a colormunki. Have not observed any shifts.

Would still recommend IJC.

Did you flush the green ink path? The ink tube holds a lot of ink and the new green ink in your cart might not have moved down to the print-head yet, especially if you use as little of green ink as I did (albeit in a pro-9500, not an ipf-6300).

If some of your inks are sitting unused in their bottles because you don't use much, you might consider dumping them and using fresher inks.

I did toss the old green ink and rinsed and air dried the ijc tank when i put in the new tank nozzle and spring. I used new ink, did 2-3 head cleanings. It worked fine for a while but it did eventually come back. That was a year+ ago.

The green needs a head cleaning frequently. The rest never have an issue.
