Epson R2880 / Canon Pro-100
Hey Everyone,

My main photo printer is Epson r2880 - which has served me well for years. Over time my PC has changed, my calibration tool (spyder3 pro) is now outdated, and calibration software not compatible with Windows 10...so getting everything back in synch is my main goal...

However, joined this forum because of my journey with Canon printers. Started with i960, and when that went caput, went to MP970. MP970 now doesn't print magenta and all regular methods of troubleshooting have yielded nothing - I've posted my question in the Canon inkjet printer section. Would like to rescue as I have lots of OEM ink and Old Canon Paper, like Canon Photo Paper Pro II (PR-201) for which profiles don't exist for my recently purchased Pro-100!!!!

Thanks in Advance for any sage advice.
-Steve

1) This may not be true. Some people report using the Spyder 3 Pro with Windows 10. Read the entire thread of the following link for how people got the calibrator to work.

https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/spyder-3-and-windows-10.507068/

2) Others suggest changing to a different (free) software - Argyll+displayGUI.

3) You can find help with installation and use of the free software such as the following link at displaycal.net:

https://hub.displaycal.net/forums/topic/windows-10-spyder-3-driver-help/

4) I found these links using Google:

5) One thing I did not read was people trying Windows 10's Compatibility Mode for older software. It might work.

Thank you Stratman for the response and the time you spent to link answers. Yes, I had previously searched similar topics before and read up on the same before registering here. For #1 and #4, I may have a problem b/c of my new monitor - 4k gaming monitor and less options on setup coupled with new Video Card - but am taking my time to figure it out. #2, #3 are my back up plans, and had not considered #5 (thanks!). Will be sure to ask follow up questions in the appropriate forum if needed.

You mention the R2880, there are drivers for Win10, are you using it parallel to the Pro-100 - one printer with pigment inks and one with dye inks ? With Refill ?

Funny you should ask that question. I'll take your segue and may move this discussion to the Epson Forum, since my original question on this topic really related to Canon MP970 but...

My mention of the r2880 was really to say that the MP970 wasn't my main printer. I use OEM inks on both, no refill. I haven't abandoned Canon printing due to the aforementioned history with i960, etc., and due to massive amounts of paper that I've accumulated, I decided I would get the pro-100 in order to not have my supply go to waste. Added bonus is that I've moved all my canon stuff to my parents' home so I can basically use the printer to print on demand for them instead of having to schlep large format prints between NYC and NJ....but I digress.

As for drivers for R2880, that hasn't been my problem (until maybe last month - I'll get to that in my Epson Forum Post).

Why don't you use the Canon papers on the Epson printer ? You may need a matching profile for best results but you just may try it first with the driver standard settings.
