When I print printer reports, generated SUDOKU, everything seems to be very contrast and crisp.
But when I try to copy, there is horizontal banding, and vertical

The scanner works perfectly.
Also I scanned a printed black page:

I have learned that horizontal wide banding can be due to exposure to sun (but why originally printed sudoku is crisp..).

Also, does the toner replacement would solve the issue? Does the tonner contain the drum? It is now 52% full. I dont know the history, but possibly it was refilled not replaced.

So, let’s see if I'v got this right...:caf
What your saying is the printer will print a file perfectly from your computer, but has problems when printing a self-generated scan, I reckon your scanner maybe on the blink and that’s where you should concentrate all your efforts...

Hi :)
Well, the only thing it prints well and crisp is his selfgenerated reports and sudoku. But if I print from PC via USB or copy, then there is a difference. I found on youtube, it may look, that the drum may have been exposed to sun, since there is wide horizontal banding. But the thing that it prints well self generated images well, it casts doubt. It scans well - no banding.
This is a device I got for free too. So I think about maybe replacing the cartridge.. and since the drum is a part of it, maybe it would resolve the problem.. :)

You might be better off buying a new printer or sticking with this printer the way it is, rather than waste money on a new toner cartridge, I’m not aware that your printer model does have a toner and drum as one unit.

There is no way in the world that sunlight can affect a drum inside the printer, the drum mush be kept in darkness for it to work, otherwise you’d get no image.

Here is a file that shows possible defects you can get with laser printer, do any of them look like yours ?
