The PrinterKnowledge site now contains postings about a large range of diverse problems relating to various makes and types of printer, but there is a missed opportunity for the site, we do not have a tabulated list of all current printers by make and model with recommendations or comments which would assist members in selecting a new printer.

This is something one would expect to see when referring to a site named PrinterKnowledge.

Some of our more expert members might be able to contribute to this list from personal knowledge and use.

How about it??

@Emulator, What your asking is in my opinion is almost impossible, there are too many printers out there and I can guarantee if we did have a full extensive printer list, then someone would complain that we never included their printer !

Now if you can compile a list or a way to include, JUST the most popular manufacturers models, then I am sure we could have members send you their own known list and that would be a start, but remember when I posted a list back in 2012 of easy to refill Canon printers, it too had its share of moaners...

http://www.printerknowledge.com/thr...he-poorest-canon-printers-for-refilling.7282/

P.S. To compile a list of printers properly, it would need the help of many printer owners and members new and old and it would take many months to complete, so I can’t see you getting that much help, but I will be first to put my neck on the line to start it off... :D

I would be inclined to forget about history for the time being and only list the newly available models, those mentioned by ISF for example, the printers that are new and likely to be the targets of future purchases.

Ahh, the good old days. I remember well.

Looking through the thread I see our friend fotofreak posting away. Where has he been?

@Emulator, I don’t get out much, but what exactly is the ISF... :hide

I like the original idea @Emulator as much because it'd help me keep up to speed on what's coming out ;) but on a more serious note it's a hell of an undertaking.

As to the older models, for me at least leaving them out would actually negate my experience because I'm always recommending models that are out of manufacturer or certainly ones that have matured. Most likely that's partly because of the refilling and Printer Potty focus here but, I'm aware that I rate older machines a lot better than some of the rubbish that has come out since.

Case in point is a 15 year old Epson Stylus Colour 900 that came through here recently. It's slow but it's still going. Or the iP4500 compared to an IP7250.. The only limiting factors are things like printhead availability for the older Canons. Epsons can go even longer..

That said, perhaps a little adjustment to the suggestion; Perhaps we could pick some models to focus on and do a review by committee on each. It'd probably create a mess of opinions but perhaps the admins could create a Pro's/Con's group review summary article at the end?

Yes, I think it would have to be kept very basic to start with, a list and description by manufacturer.

There are so many variables here, it really goes down to the individuals needs -ie; paper size/print needs/multifunction needs/operating systems/inks types/usage etc
Rihac technicians were always very good at recommending printers and they use to have a printer recommendations page on there website.
