Ok I finally ran out of my stratitec refill ink. Bought a new printhead for my ip4600 because I was starting to get some minor striping on my cyan heads, possibly due to ink kogation but it was time since I went through quite a bit of ink. So after profiling the ink and kirkland paper on on my Lide 200 scanner I got an impressive 80.1 dynamic range score and 15.0% coverage of lab space. This is better than the stratitec at 76.4 and 14.6%. And just as high as canon oem ink. Truly an impressive ink. Of course for safe measure I've added 2 drops of kodak photo flo solution to the 2 ounce needle bottles of ink I use for filling. It makes for a faster ink flow through the carts to prevent possible ink starvation.

Does MIS ink come in the same syringe/bottles that Inktec ink comes in? Where so you get it from?

MIS is at www.inksupply.com . MIS is a vendor for Image Specialist inks but does not positively identify their Canon inks as IS . Precision Colors at http://home.eol.ca/~mikling/ sells Image Specialist inks, positively identifies their Canon inks as IS inks, and is priced lower than MIS. Both are very reliable vendors. Precision Colors owner is a longtime participant and valuable contributor on this forum.

Thanks for the link to MIS inks, fotofreek, but I'm still trying to figure out what the 2 ounce needle bottle is. I went to the website and found a picture of a 2 oz bottle but it did not appear to have a needle nor did it appear to double as a syringe. I was hoping it might be like Inktec's 2 ounce bottle that is actually a syringe on which you can attach a needle: no need to transfer ink.

Sorry, Websnail - I was thinking locally and not globally! These are the sources I have used that shipped to me in San Francisco. Your efforts to put together squeeze bottles with luerlock caps and needles has not been forgotten! BTW - are you now a source for IS inks?

GHwells - In the US you can purchase squeeze bottles with luerlock tops and needles at Howard Electronics. If Websnail has his squeeze bottle setup available to ship at comparable prices to the US I would certainly deal with him as well. I have Howard Electronics containers with needles that I've used for four or so years.

No, comes in bottles you draw from with your syringe. Been using IS inks from Precision Colors after trying Hobbicolors and InkTec. Very good results. Check out his site and link to ebay store - great service.

Understood... worth noting that "locally" is a bit of a relative thing when "local" on an International forum is erm... well.. planet Earth ;)

Understood... At present I'm hampered by the costs that exist although I'm working on my volumes to bring those down (while inflation works to push them back up! :/)

... but I digress...
