Not sure if my IP4000 is having any problems or not. When I do a nozzle check, the light blue bar ends up being half striped in a slightly darker blue. The shorter hashes by the 6C and the 6M are also half shaded. I did some printouts of some pictures and didn't notice any problems. So my question is do I have a nozzle problem?

Found this thread here and it helped me figure it out.

Replaced the printhead (had a spare) and I'm good to go now. I'm assuming it is an electrical problem with the head as Tin Ho mentioned in the thread mentioned above.

Now I just need to pick up a spare head. Ouch.

Looks like an electronic printhead issue to me, but I could be wrong....

Can you get the printer to print a "service test" print and post that? Most Canon models will do that if you know the correct button press sequences. Perhaps someone else on the Forum could answer how to force your printer to do this.

Does a printhead alignment check look satisfactory?

Are high quality photo-prints satisfactory, or are they banded?

You should save the old head for text printing. I would.

Own a laser jet for that. :D I do hate to throw it away, but I really don't see much use for it; and I imagine fixing it would be virtually impssible.

At least yank off the rubber gaskets around the inlet ports.
