Hi Neil.....Thanks for all the good info on your site!!
I have had an Epson Photo 785 EPX printer for about 18 months and have generally been quite satisfied. I do need to keep running cleaning cycles to keep the ink flowing, but the photo results are very good IMO.But this printer is also pretty slow and the cost of the Epson carts is absurd!
Last week I bought a Canon i960 and am looking forward to comparing the photos from each printer, using different inks. I'm going to go ahead and use your color 'test' photo (Croquet balls) for various tests. I will use Epson Glossy photo paper that I got from Costco for all the comparisons......it should be interesting. I have to admit I am very impressed with the i960....it is very fast and extremely quiet. Apparently this model is being phased out....I know it is getting hard to find....
I'll first print using the 'expensive' ink (Epson & Canon), then I'll print a test with the Inkgrabber carts ( I ordered them today for both the Epson and Canon) Then I am planning on trying the MIS ink in bottles. It will be a few weeks before I get to the MIS inks, but I'll try to let everyone know what I think about the quality or if I have any problems.
If anyone has any suggestions on other inks they have tried, I would be interested in hearing about them.

This is great stuff!! I love these kinds of conditioned experiments!

So, there should be a few test prints when you are all done:

Epson with Espon OEM carts
Epson with Inkgrabber carts

Canon with Canon OEM carts
Canon with Inkgrabber carts

Will you be getting the MIS inks for both printers as well?

So you'll be able to compare Epson to Canon and OEM to non-OEM! That's great! Just make sure all the printer settings are the same and that you've flushed out any traces of the ink from the other test cartridges.

Do you have a decent scanner to share the results with us? If so, please keep us posted and send me an email with the pictures and I can post them in all their huge glory!

I've run many test of my own using some of the images I've gathered from multiple locations. I'm not sure if these are "public domain" or not, but give them a look (note, some are very big, but I've tried to put smaller JPG files along with them):

I especially like these two testing my prints:

Canon also has a LOT of very high resolution images here on their site. Just go to the following link where they have all their cameras, click on a camera model and click "sample images" to the right.
