Epson waste counter reset vs. Octoinkjet

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between using the downloadable reset from the Epson site to reset my waste ink pad error vs. buying the utility from Octoinkjet? Do they both do the same thing?

My experience is the waste ink reset from eppson gets you maybe another page of printing....

Thank-you. I purchased one from Martin a couple years ago and I was thinking that was the case - that the Epson one didn't last very long but I could not remember for sure. I appreciate your help.
