So I thought I would try SSC since you say it works on WIN 7. I installs - I can find the printer - I cannot get it to show me the current count - it errors - but IO can go through the motions or resetting it. It asksme if I change the pads and I of course say yes.
Then it states that the counter is zeroed. I turn off and restart the printer.
The counter is still at 45% according to the WIC counter monitor.
So I have no idea whether it actually works with WIN 7?
Most likely you need to run the SSC utility in compatibility mode...

- Right click on the SSC exe file (or shortcut) and choose properties...
- Choose the "Compatibility" tab
- Tick the "Run in compatibility mode" box
- Select "Windows XP Service Pack 3" and the "Run as an Administrator" option if it's available
- Click on Apply and then OK

That should allow you to start running the utility in XP mode and get it to communicate with the printer.

The problem with the 2200 is it does not have a removable side panel like most other printers so there's no simple way to get to the waste ink tube.

(install guide is here: http://www.wasteink.co.uk/waste-ink-mods/epson-2100-wibox-mod/)

Going back to the R2400... There's a waste kit installation guide on that on inkrepublic here:

All of them! LOL
Thanks but I did run it in both XP mode as well as in normal win7 mode. No joy either way.
The R2400 waste installation is a piece of cake. Easy axcess to side panel as opposed to none for the 2200.
I
ll take a look at the link for the 2200

Thanks

Hmm... It might be that it doesn't like the 64 bit drivers.

I'm admit I'm limited in terms of experience with Win Vista / 7 but it may be that you need to install the 32 bit printer drivers (in compatibility mode) for the printer to get it to work... Can't be sure though, or even if that would work.

Agreed.. The real git was the R2880 and R1900 process... That can be a right pain to master.

ll take a look at the link for the 2200
If you get any better pictures of the process I'd welcome them... What I have isn't ideal...

No worries... BTW.. if you need the AdjProg for the R2400, let me know as I'm sure I know where a copy exists somewhere and that'll probably resolve the reset for you, if you need it.

I had no problem installing waste ink bottles with the R1900 R2400 R2880 R2000

I did find a R2400 Adjustment program and it will not find the printer even through it is installed via USB. Yet the WIC can and does display its counter value.

I would welcome anything you can find for me.

Thank you so much.

I think I'll have to finally get a laptop upgraded to Win7 and start trying to duplicate some of these problems as you're not the first to report issues like this..

If I figure anything out I'll let you know...

Re: the 1900/2880... the bit I found a pain was removing the side panel... The tabs were delicate as anything to release and very, very easy to snap... Not easy for someone to tackle without prior experience certainly.

Indeed you have to be carefull as I did snap one tab on my 1st R1900. The 2nd went well.
I have a 2nd laptop I might just restore to XP just to do this resetting thing.

You could always use vmware or similar to create a Guest OS XP machine and then link it to a specific USB port to do much the same thing.

Installed WIN XP on my 2nd lap top and installed SSC and WIC
Then 32 bit drivers for R2400
Ran WIC monitor and it diplayed the some levels as before.
Set up SSC to monitor R2400
Was able to read current counter values.
Reset to Zero
Checked with WIC and it also showed ZERO
So it appears you need WIN XP 32 bit although it might work with 64 bit.

I am happy regardless.

Now to reset my old R340!

So far I've been able to resets ink counters on R340 using SSC.

Found R380 adjustment program but though it did detect the inc counter numbers, it crapped out during Initializing. Apparently there is not much for the R380 other than the Epson Utility.

Reset both Stylus 1400 with an Adjustment Program.

I will try the R1900s and the R2880 next with adjustment programs found on the internet.

So it's been a successful afternoon.

This evening I was able to reset the ink counters on all the printers except, the R380 or of course the PRO3800s and the Canon PRO 9000 and 9500MKIIs. Using either the SSG or individual adjustment Programs.

Still have to figure out how to access waste ink tubes in the 2200s
