Can I make my own cleaning cartridges from empty ones (Canon ip4500) and what would be the best mix of cleaner to put in them, Ammonia etc?

I don't what to remove the print heads;)

Yes is the simple answer.
Just use some window cleaner from your local supermarket, but make sure you mix it
with a little bit of colour so you can see the printed nozzle check afterwards..

Something to consider if you will be using a fairly strong ammonia mixture ... the info for OCP "nozzle rocket" print-head cleaning solution indicates not to put it in carts in with foam/sponge as the foam can deteriorate. I'm unclear on what the ingredients of "nozzle rocket" are, but it has a much stronger ammonia smell than plain Windex.

I've been a fan and advocate of a dedicated set of cleaning carts, but having some second thoughts about their use. That may reflect some misconceptions I have on how a print-head is built and works.
