I use the German method on my MX850. It has worked well so far.

From my experience, the hardest part about replacing the absorber pads is figuring out where all the screws are to disassemble it. Once you've taken one apart a few times it becomes easy enough. It takes longer to take it apart that it does to actually replace the pads. ;)

I'm so glad I know how to work on my own printers so I don't have to put up with self-righteous and arrogant repair people like the "tech" on that site. These canon inkjet printers aren't hard to figure out how to disassemble and repair. Then, even if you don't know how to repair it, this forum...
