After destroying the ip4600s printhead with only 2 yellow refills (OCP) another color printhead (MX515 with oem brand new carts) had to be sacrificed after just 1 refill!
The problem with the yellow ink appears suddenly and gets worst very fast! I flushed the hole cart/printhead with hot...
Indeed, single inks canon printers are the way to go but keep in mind that the printhead can die prematurely without notice! My old ip4600 just died without reason and no symptoms. My best next choice could be an epson but i decided to go for the mx515 (pg-540, pg-541) for 98euro. The reason...
I diluted the ink of a full set of carts with some cleaning fluid and the nozzle check came out better. The problem is that after printing a page (full colour photo) i totally lost yellow. Could be an ink starvation issue?
The head works "fine". It's like i never unscrewed these bolts. There is nothing inside to damage if you don't scratch or insert a pin inside the small holes in order "clean" the head. So for me the printhead was already dead. This was my last chance to make work/unclog.
Now my question is...
I don't think that is the ink. Today i took a part again the printhead and cleanit up really well. I strongly think that is an electrical issue because the missing nozzles are always the same. oh, now i also lost again the yellow channel...totally!
I also cleanedup the gold contacts where the...
I need a printer that prints decently fast in normal mode (laser mode) and with good colour quality. I don't think that epsons can do that so my other choice in case the ip4600 is dead is the HP officejet pro 8100.
Any recommendation?
here is a fresh nozzle check sample. I'll try to dilute the inks with some distilled water inorder to see if there is an ink starvation problem

I don't use OEM inks and i think i have printed until now about 120ml of ink of each color. I also have another inkset ready to use but i get the same issues.
Tomorrow i'll post some pics but i don't think that we're gonna find out anything....The damn head is juuuust dead :(
Suddenly and before emptying a complete refill ink set from octoink the printhead just lost all the yellow color. After repeated cleaning cycles i managed to get back the yellow but lost almost all the other colors. I took the head a part and clean up properly. I also cleaned the waste/suck...
try printfab or other similar RIP software. I solved this issue once for all! Also you can control accurately the colors ;)
With IS ink i have absolutely NO CAST on b/w prints! It's just amazing!
TheHat if you have a digital camera you can set it to macro mode and just take a shot ;) It will look a lot better than the scanner! tip: Use the b/w cameras mode and external light, not the flash.
And try to upload to imageshack or photobucket in full resolution. I don't think that this site...
Yes lin, you're right! The photoblack text and dots are OT. I inserted it just because i took a couple of pictures... I'll delete it because it confusing indeed....:(
As for the pigment, it's obvious that the KMP and the OCP black are far superior to the IS and the PGI-5 seems OK with the...
I have tested the KMPs PGI-5 pigment black with ip4600 and the results are very good! The black is black like the OCPs but there is a little ink diffusion on the paper.
OCP black on plain
KMP pigment on plain
KMP pigment on coated paper
I'll also upload a swab page of the three inks...
