I have had a similar error with a much more mundane printer, an iP4000. It intermittently gave an error that the output tray was closed even if it was open. The cause of the error was a failing sensor switch. I managed to take the switch apart and clean the contact surfaces with an electronics...
A printhead is a large scale specialized integrated circuit or "Chip". As there are no separate ink tanks in a combined sponge and printhead cartridge I think that cutting open the printhead section will reveal no separate region and ink level chip. I think that function is a part of the control...
Sadly no, Unlike the single ink tank cartridges which have the chip on the outside of the cartridge, so it is easily exchangeable, the chip is internal in the combined sponge and printhead cartridges, so it is not accessible.
You could try WIC reset. It is free to download and to get some info about the printer from, but to reset the waste ink counter you will have to buy a reset key at 10 $, The Epson RX585 is on the list of supported printers. WIC reset works with Windows, but versions for MacOS and Linux are also...
When a Canon printhead fails electronically. there is a risk that it damages the main board. A main board damaged in this way might damage a new printhead. So replacing a Canon printhead is a gamble and I cannot tell the odds for success. But my guess is that the odds for success are good and...
In the service manuals for iP4800 and MG5100 I noticed the mentioning of two printhead manuals, see this:
I wonder what is the purpose of these manuals?
It looks like it is about if a printhead should be replaced on the warranty, Notice questions as: Are the cartridges OEM or not? And are...
Most likely the printhead has suffered an electronic damage. The incorrect printhead message is often caused by a defective printhead. Electronic errors in Canon printheads are sometimes intermittent before becoming permanent.
If you are very lucky the error is caused by dirty contact pads on...
It is not clear to me if the printer entered service mode. Did the yellow and green lights alternate while pressing the stop key 6 times and did the display go black? If they did then then the reason that push button service mode operations doesn't work could be that the printer's firmware is...
I remember that this topic has been discussed before, There have been guesses about tax, customs, trade or environmental reasons for the marking. I think is that this guess by @mikling is right and it is caused by stricter environmental regulations in the EU than in other parts of the world. So...
Yes an OEM chip transferred to a third party cartridge is still an OEM chip and still region specific. But the chips om my refillable third party cartridges are not OEM but third party ARC and claimed to be non region specific.
You never know with Non-OEM Chips. Maybe they made a universal CLI-42 chip? It might be possible. Here is a scan of a CLI-x51 Y refillable cartridge with an ARC chip. It seems to be universal for all 8 Canon regions, click to enlarge:
Neither have I. If I accidently inserted a chipped cartridge in a wrong place I have always got an error message that a cartridge cannot be recognized. I thought that magenta and photo magenta probably used the same chip. I had a photo magenta CLI-8 cartridge, so I tried to insert that in an...
You are right, a concentrated alcohol like 99% isopropyl alcohol attracts water and acts as a desiccant that can make matters worse if you try to use it for printhead cleaning.
But used on a Q-tip to clean contact surfaces 99% isopropyl alcohol evaporates before it can attract water, so there...
I think there is a problem with the chip contact springs in the printhead carriage. You could try cleaning them with a Q-tip moistened with isopropyl alcohol or an electronics contact cleaner. You should also clean the contact surfaces on the chips with isopropyl alcohol or an electronics...
The CLI-42 and CLI-8 cartridges with CLI-42 chips attached that could be used in the Pro 100 can also replace the CLI-65 cartridges used in the Pro 200 if you transfer the CLI-65 chips to them. No resetter exists for the CLI-65 cartridges so you will have to disable ink level monitoring to print...
Sad to say but the printhead has suffered an electronic damage and only a new printhead can resolve the error. Only buy a new printhead from a regular dealer of Canon spare parts,
Avoid "refurbished" printheads from eBay, Amazon, Alibaba and similar. These are most often defective printheads...
I've had an iP7250, MG5550 and a couple more of printers of the PGI-550/CLI-551 and PGI-570/CLI-571 cartridge generations. I agree with you that these are not quite the same build quality as older models to say it politely. IMO they are clumsy, flimsy and noisy and the printheads seem to be more...
It is not a normal Cannon error code. It is not in the service manual which is found here. It might mean a USB problem, either in the computer or the printer. Maybe the printer will work with another USB port or on another computer? Does the yellows error LED come on if the printer is turned on...
