Welcome to the forum. You posed this question: Can I install refilled carts as the OEM runs out or should I change them all at once? For the German method, it's better to let the OEM cartridge run out before refilling because if the sponge is saturated it presents a barrier against the air...
Sorry to hear of the 5 flashing orange light alarm. It most often portends the death of the print head. Canon printers i860, iP4000, MP770 and MP740 use this model QY6 0049 print head. An eBay search turns up a dozen or so of new print heads - all from China and in the price range of $75. I'd...
I've had success cleaning dye and pigment inks from my hands with a product identified and linked by ps.ijpf in this earlier post: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=53366#p53366
It's called LA Totally Awesome Cleaner. My wife uses it as a general cleaner for floors, walls...
Mowerman90: You might want to review this link and the many posts that follow. Be sure to view the "support" video found on the supplier's web site. I echo panos' sentiment. Please report back and let us know your assessment of quality.
Reg: You have probably already found your problem. BUT, in case you have not; after ENTERING the service mode you must take the printer OUT of the service mode. The best way is to shut the power off, wait a few seconds and turn the power back on. When you do, the iP4000 printer will pull...
themow: I'm convinced that the problem is a clogged pigment channel, not a purge unit. Your posts #1, #3 and #8 confirm that to me - no pigment flow. I've successfully cleared clogged pigment channels on 4 or 5 print heads similar to yours (QY6-0064 for i560) by using the same method you've...
bobjoek:
There are conditions where flushing is needed. In particular, if a printer or a set of cartridges has been idle for a long period of time (months), the Canon OEM yellow will take on a dark hue. Other colors can become stale also. To restore photo brilliance, it's best to flush the...
mrelmo: The degree of difficulty of cleaning the waste ink pads depends on the Canon model number. If you're dealing with an all-in-one printer as described above in the above post #2 by ghwellsjr, you're entering a fairly complicated endeavor. If, however, you're dealing with a printer with...
Inkadinkado: I think you're on the right track. On step 3, prying the round ball with an awl will probably be easier if you melt a "starter" hole first. Heat the tip of the awl in the flame of a cigarette lighter or candle and carefully melt a hole about the half the depth of the ball. Don't...
BostonFern: Hot wax or glue from a hot glue gun may be OK for a temporary seal of the refill hole but should NOT be considered for the long term. Refill holes sealed this way must be cleaned out, bored out, scraped off, etc. for subsequent refills or purges. The PGI-220 cartridge is similar to...
The first consideration for any change is " Is this REALLY necessary?" Unless the need is obvious, avoid the temptation. There will always be the temptation to reorganize into categories that fit the current world but as time goes by, the old categories do not fit neatly within the new ones...
I concur with the opinions expressed about the 6-8 cartridge printers. Why mess with 6 cartridges when 4 and 5 cartridge printers in good working order make prints almost as good? I have (4) iP3000 printers (one new in box), (2) i560s and (3) i850s. They all use the same print head (QY6-0064)...
The liquid is called "NOZZLE Rocket." The product is used to clean print head nozzles, not cartridges. OCP sells another product for flushing cartridges. There's no list of chemicals on the bottle. It smells strongly of ammonia, so I suspect it's similar to Windex except it has significatly...
I bought a bottle of OCP Nozzle Rocket. It works no better than Windex with some added ammonia. If it was significantly better than DIY concoctions, you would hear about it. Save your money.
I agree with The Hat, msmart and fotofreek. I've had ink saturate into the upper sponge with no ill consequences. To lessen the chance of this happening you might try this technique posted by mikling. It works for me.
