Hello "The Hat",
Thanks for your response but the MX892 resisted all my efforts to bring it back to life. I bought a Brother MFC which will serve my needs for now. Frankly, I decided to try something else because of the low ink cost and annoyance with all the machinations of Canon to extract...
Turned the printer on this AM and got the B200 error. After googling, I cleaned the print head, same thing required by the previous Canon printer a few months before it died about 3 years ago.
After drying the print head and installing, I still get the error. What do I do? Mechanical things...
I have now refilled several carts for my new Canon MX892 (PGI225 and several of the 226s). So far I've refilled the original and weighed the carts. One thing found is the printer provides less clearance compared to my old MX 862, so plugs need to be thinner.
In addition, I just drilled the...
How often does Canon change their print heads. I just bought a Canon MX892 and am wondering if I should keep the print head from the MX862 which has been working very well, or try to find someone who can use it. Searching online, including the Canon site, hasn't revealed anything to identify...
Has anyone tried to reset the chips that come on non-OEM carts? (In other words, put those chips on OEM carts, in particular to reuse my old PGI-220 carts for as PGI-225 carts.)

So, the supply of ink and carts I've collected aren't wasted. Jeez, if Canon had told me that I would have bought the new printer sooner. And I was ready to give the whole shebang away to anyone with skills beyond my mechanical tool set.
Thanks InkJet Master. You are the Master.
Best...
I just came upon this discussion. Wouldn't the print head influence which chip and cartridge was being used, and how they work together. Or is it just a container of ink that the print head disperses as it sees fit.
I was unable to keep my MX860 alive and so am now the owner of an MX892. That means I am using the Canon pgi-225 and CLI-226 cartridges.
In the past there has always been the recommendation to only refill OEM Canon cartridges, but with the opaque material of these cartridges I have to wonder...
Charmed. Yes, the service tool () ran quite nicely on a XP 32 bit machine.
I have found it both confusing and difficult to find how to enter service mode. Many people have posted the directions for their machine, but Canon understands how to maintain proprietary control and doesn't use the...
It's the Canon MX860. Printer works fine, I would hope the service tool would as well. If not, does this really mean I have to get a new printer. I hope Canon has not discovered that.
Regards,
Tom C
Thanks for your response. I already downloaded a reset tool from a previous posting, and have downloaded Canon's service manual (paid for) but they clearly don't want non-Canon personnel trying this.

Tom
My replacement of the MX860 absorber pads have been delayed by visiting daughters, but I'm back on it now. The absorber pads have been delivered and on the advice of the seller I've called the Canon 800 number for advice on installing them. However, Canon clearly dislikes the idea of me doing...
Actually the Canon pads arrived yesterday, but I do intend to wash them out anyway. (Believe it or not, Canon sent 2 sets of pads and now I'm waiting to see how I'm going to be billed.)
I have begun to try and take the printer apart, but I go slow with this type of thing, and after a day I put...
