Comparison of the new ECO Tank printers

I wonder whether there has been a comparison or a kind of inventory regarding the new generation of printers with "ECO tanks"?

I am not yet looking for a new printer.
Last year I purchased a Epson 3880 which so far serves me well.
The only problem I could be faced with is perhaps not printing very often and as a result possible gloggs?
But I try, so far successfully, to avoid clogging by putting a small container with a sponge filled with water in the carefully closed and covered printer. I try to use the printer at least once every two weeks.

I refill the OEM ink cartridges with 250 ml bottles Lyson ink from "Farbenwerk in Dorsten Germany (www.farbenwerk.com).
I thereby follow the instructions and advices developed by Joe Toolman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kCc5fwssVM and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTbnIJgxMV8&feature=youtu.be) and I am totally satisfied with the photo output I get.

However I like to follow the developments in the printer world and now esp. the new trend (?) towards large ink tanks with cheaper ink, but more expensive printers.
At this point in time I wonder whether just having 4 tanks with black and 3 colors, can create the same print quality which my Epson 3880 with 9 cartridges produces?

So far most of the info I read has been from 2015 and I would like to read more recent details about the new "ink tank printers"

As far as I know most epson ITS models are based on previous models, like L800 on P50/R285.
And while using both a R285 and a 3880 I have to say the A4 model is a decent photo printer with really good output especially on glossy paper (because of dye ink..) but the 3880 is definitely superior regarding smoothness and color tones. Simply because of a superior print engine, print head and "3K" ink for better B&W. Besides you are lucky to be able to refill - what seems to be impossible with the successor model P800, at least until now...

What would you expect in regards to print quality - there are lots of variables the manufacturers can tune to create a sellable product - you can vary the droplet size, the number of nozzles, the number of inks, the printhead speed combined with firmware which creates the best possible output with the particular hardware properties, and it is a matter of marketing to define such a product - just look to the various printer models for 17" with the 3880, P800, 4880 etc . All this is related to the hardware/software of such unit, and there are the inks as well as a complex chemical product which need to do their job on the media the printer is supposed to handle. It is about fade resistance , color gamut, bronzing, gloss, scratch resistance, media compatibility

Not to belabor everything and the kitchen sink, but... do dye-based inks stain stainless steel sinks?

I am just a simple user of my printer (3880) and not really interested nor capable of applying info regarding "fade résistance , color gamut, bronzing, gloss, scratch resistance, media compatibility, when selecting and using a printer.
The only matter that I am concerned about is how to avoid clogging when not using my 3880 for a longer period of time.
It is my impression that increasing the average humidity inside the 3880 by placing inside the printer, a small container with a wet sponge seems to do the job.

I was not aware that Epson took already existing printers and just modified the ink circulation to produce the ECO Tank printers.
As I said before I am very satisfied with the way my 3880 functions and its output quality.
I wondered about the print quality of these "Eco Tank printers" that only have 3 colors apart from black. Now I onderstand why!
