I'm willing to handload carts for my b/w work (with a 1400), but on my 1430 I want to take a break from syringes and so on. I'm interested in the InkThrift CL inkset for the 1430 You buy a set of EasyFill carts, it's kind of a shell of a cartridge, but it does have a chip. Into this shell you snap in a capsule of ink. When you run out you snap in a new capsule but the shell (or "key" as they call it) remains the same.

Sure, it costs more than buying bottles of the various colors and filling an empty cart with the syringe. But it still costs significantly less than an OEM cart.

Any users or opinions out there? TIA!

you may try the search function of this forum and you would get this:

I used the CL ink, bottled and got the results as tested. I'm not familiar with these Easyfill carts. If you look for best refill convenience you may have a look to the Epson L1800 which is the 1400 with an Epson built CISS - integrated tank system ITS - no cartridge hazzles at all. Some of these Epson CISS models are not available in all sales regions in this world.

This is a late follow-up to my OP. I just now installed a set of Easy-Fill carts (color) in my Epson 1430. Worked like a charm! The LEDs for two of my OEM carts were blinking, time to install fresh carts. They activate very easily, just pop the capsule of ink in the shell, pull the tab, and install. Got a perfect nozzle check first try. Highly recommended, at this point anyway.
