Hi, recently my printer has a vertical alignment problem.
I've tried different inks, print head alignment, deep cleaning, and the printhead under hot water, but nothing helps. What can I do? Advice?

Thanks.

The print head is defective. The PGBK nozzles have most likely become deformed by overheating. So which inks/cartridges do you use. Some PGI-550/CLI-551 compatible products are good, others are not and will ruin the print head. See this thread and specially notice the druckerchannel.de links.

Only a new print head might bring the printer back to good working order, but if the print head has other electronic defects it might have damaged the logic board and a damaged logic board can damage a new print head. So how does the complete nozzle check look? Please upload the complete nozzle check. If one or more of the coloured stripes are split horizontally along the centre line and the upper or lower half is either lighter or darker than the other half the logic board might be damaged by the print head.

If the stripes look OK apart from some clogged nozzles like in cyan, chances are good that the logic board is OK and a new print head will save the printer.

But replacing a defective print head is a gamble, you might loose and I cannot tell the odds for success. The print head part number is QY6-0083 if you would search for one. Avoid E bay offers from the far East, only buy from a reputable dealer of Canon parts. If you are located in the UK, here is a print head. Sadly the company does not ship outside the UK.

You may have a dirty timing strip, sometimes stray ink can land on it, especially when doing a lot of borderless prints.

You’ll need to stop your print head in the middle of the carriageway by lifting the top cover and then pulling out the power lead.

Use a paper towel and some alcohol or window cleaner on it, to gently wipe both sides of this plastic strip, you can manually move the print head out of the way to gain complete access...

Please take a look at

The nozzle check indicates some starvation issues. Sometimes starvation can manifest itself into timing as well with delayed and reduced nozzle ejection.

If you look at the top and bottom of the pattern, you'll see that they appear normal so why is it in the middle. Over ten years ago, I had pics of the ink channels. At the top of each strip of nozzles, there is a small reservoir at each end. At that time my engineering background led me to suspect that was there to maintain a uniform layer of ink across the nozzles. If this indentation of a reservoir was not there, the ink band would tear and break away. You see you need to stretch a line of ink across the line of nozzles. The only way you can do this reliably is to have a stable liquid "hook" at each end that does pull away easily. ( CAVERNS) This hook resembles what stress tests patterns show. Liquids actually acts like solids or vice versa. Very technical topic actually.

First do as the video indicates, if this solves it or helps, then proceed to flush out the carts and start over as I also see starvation issues in the colors as well.
