Hi the Hat

thank you for your answers. They confirm what I guessed.
I will try again Alibaba and I will keep this post updated.

More questions about Maxify cartridges :
are they easy to refill ? I mean is there any protection again refill like chip in cartridge ?
what kind of ink is needed ? could it be the same that I use for canon MP 750 refill or is it a different ink technology ?
If second option is true, where to order it from ?

Thanks again

Leon

Hi Leon, Alibaba is a good place to buy anything. Now the Maxify OEM carts can be refilled but there is no chip resetter for them so you have to run with them blind and check for ink regularly, but on the good side they are big cartridges.

The better option is to use compatible refill cartridges with an ARC chip that does not need resetting, both the compatible and OEM carts are easy to refill.

The dye ink you already have won’t work with this printer because it uses pigment ink and it can be obtained fairly easily in the UK, Germany and most likely France too...

Staying with MP 750, and looking for QY6-0049
I found that same sellers are present under ebay and Alibaba.
Both claim that defective part must be send back return cost payed by customer... to get refund or replacement
in the 7 days following arrival.

So my idea is may be to order 4 heads and test them at arrival.
send back defectives, ask replacement.
My problem now it to know how to keep working heads in good conditions
at home for futur use.
I know how to clean heads but I don't know how to protect them untill reuse.
what kind of product to inject into heads ? where to find it ?

thanks.
Leon

@stratman, The MG5750 is not a good printer, because its build quality is less that acceptable as an easy printer to work with, but it has all the bells and whistles which can be a great distraction for newbies.

Its also very flimsy with cheaply made parts, paper jams are a common daily occurrence and the 750/751 cartridges are a nightmare, there so small you have to change them continuously because of constant cleaning cycles and as for refilling, forget it, if you had one you’d probably trash it in anger, best describe as, not worth owning IMO.

It would be an excellent gift to give to someone you disliked...:p

@le boff, Yes you may find some of the resellers are on EBay, but you mostly don’t get the same protection, when you don’t purchase from within Alibaba itself.

All of these heads are refurbished so until you actually field test them, there is no way of knowing if they actually work 100%, and if there is a problem, it should so up straight away.

The best maintenance for a print head is to print as option as possible, preferable daily, and set the printer to use Quiet mode, it’s a bit slower but it can help to keep the head temperature a little lower during a long print run.

As for storage of a head, just wash thoroughly with running water for 5 minutes, next leave to stand in distilled water for a couple of hours (5 cm deep), then dry, plus shake the head vigorously and finally put about 1 or 2 ml of pharmacists’ solution on the inlets and store in a sealed plastic bag...

(Propylene Glycol / Alcohol / Distilled water) 10% / 30% / 60%

I have the Canon MG5550, that looks identical to the MG5750 when comparing specs and pictures. The only differences are that the MG5750 uses a newer cartridge generation than the MG5550 and is available in four colour combinations, while MG5550 was only available in black.

I agree with The Hat. This printer is a flimsy and noisy plastic thing. It has neither a rear paper tray nor a cassette for bottom feeding the paper. Instead paper is placed on a "bottom shelf" in cheap HP "Supermarket bargain AIO" style.

As long as they do not know who gave the gift and never to someone who always calls you to fix their computer problems.

Thank you for the explanation. Sounds like the Microsoft Windows ME of printers -- craptastic! :)

@PeterBJ -- You would think these would be the printers Canon gives away instead of the Pro-100. What a waste of materials and manufacturing.

Pure Ethyl alcohol should work as well but why would you not drink it instead?
